Is it just me or are photos of flowers and sunsets just horrible.... No offense but I just find them so amateur...

Sunsets don't require much skill to take, but flowers are different. There are SO many types of flowers, so many possibilities for angles and themes, flowers are hardly horrible to me. Sure, both are fairly common, but both can be breathtaking. Photography as I see it isn't so much about the skill as it is the vision and outcome. I mean, some amount of skill is highly preferred, if not necessary, but you could be one of the greatest skill photographers out there with the most powerful camera in the world, and you could have a genuinely boring shot.

Art is about skill, but most of all, it's about passion. Technique is praised, but lackluster art is never going to provoke anything, never going to inspire anything, never going to change anything. It's just there.

I was actually kind of disappointed that this thread wasn't about the theme of hate, to be quite honest- that would've been a good read.

Sunsets are easy to take pictures of, but I love them. flowers can be very challenging to take pictures of

What's wrong with amateur? It's not like these people are taking photographs for a living, they're doing it for fun. I don't see what the problem is.

I think so long as the person enjoys the photo themselves, it shouldn't matter what other people think, like Tyler said, they arent making a buck from it :D
Yes, sunsets and flowers may be a cliche among hobby photography, but it's not hurting anyone and really, no two pictures are the same :)
