Is my best friend gay and does he lile me?

Hello,
I am 16 years old and I am 9th grade. I met my presence best friend 2 years ago when we got in the same class. Since then I have extremely strong feeling towards him but I can not tell whether he has some towards me. I want to tell you the whole story and To ask you for your oppinions.
So, we are exremely close friends and as I said I am in love with him but I do not know whether he is gay and whether he likes me too. He never talks about girls and everytime I ask him who he likes he says noone.
At school we always touch our hands fighing like kids for pens, rulers etc. We even poke each other quite a lot.
Outside of school we go out a lot and we have really good time together. We go to cinemas, ice skating etc. When we are at his house we often spare and chase each other around.
Once at around 8 pm I kissed him on the ear while we were out and he didnt say anything.
But the thing that bothers me is that every time I try to be a lot closer like to hug him or something he gets back and says sometging like " are you gay?" , but not really seriously, more like a joke or I dont know.
Once a friend of mine asked him whether he is gay cuz I told her I like him and he told no, but she did not belive him since he didnt look at her eyes and he was not really confident.
Over all we are close extreamly much and sometimes I feel like he maight like me but other times I do not think so.
I really want to know whether he likes me or not because I am truely in love with him. Please help!

ask him what he thinks bout gays and
I guess u will know by his answer or
tell him that u like him a lot and c if
he says it back. Don't pressure him
though-let the relationship take its
course-sooner of later he just might
make a move. Kiss his ear again.

I asked him like two days ago what he thinks about LGBT overall. And the only thing he said was that he doesnt understan the different sexualities. Then I desided to tell him what I personaly think(he doesnt know I like him). And he started thinking about something but I have no clue about what exactly. And as I said he sometimes seem to be a lot homophobic, I dont know whether he does it just to act like that kr he mean it.

I aksed him what he thinks about that like two days ago and all he said was that he doesnt understand. Then I decided to tell him that there is nothing wrong with it(of course he doesnt know i like him ). Sometimes it seemsnto me to be a lot homophobic but I habe no clue whether he thinks that what he says or just acts. And I want to be sure that he is not homophobic and whether he likes me before telling him.

You seem very close - does he know you're gay? If not, coming out to him would bring you even closer and create an opportunity for him to tell you if he likes you. Maybe he just doesn't have the courage to tell you (if he does, that is) and needs that push.

Also, his tendency to skim over this subject in conversations might be because he's confused about his sexuality, since you said that he "doesn't understand the different sexualities."

Keep doing what you're doing; it sounds like you have a strong friendship and it will turn into more if it's meant to.

Yeah, he does not know the fact I like him. And I am too afraid to confess him since, as I said, I do not know whether he will understand me and whether he has feelings towards me. I'd deffinetely preffer to keep my friendship with him and not ruin it since I don know about his feelings. Of course I would love to make out with him, but still trying to find whether he is homophobic or just acts like that. Also, sometimes he acts a little bit cold, mostly when we are around alour friends or in the early morning. Thanks for the help and your oppinions!!!
