What does your dad use. It's about personal preference. I use an electric razor when I need to. I just feel I'd cut myself with a manual one.

I think he uses a manual. I know my brother uses a manual one.

Don't be afraid to ask for help from them - that's how I started using my dad's electric razor. It's a good bonding session between father and son :-)

Don't go against the direction of the hair, go with it.

The most important thing is to get help your first time. Definitely do not shave alone because you might hurt yourself. Shaving is one of those things you need someone to help you with the first time.
Other than that, just buy the regular razor blades with two blades because anything greater than two blades really does not do much especially if you're not really hairy. Preparing your face is super important making sure you use hot water to open up your pores so that when you use the razor on your hairs that they will be cut as low as possible. Just make sure you have a good aftershave so that you can treat any cuts if you get them. Just go slow, and remember you'll make mistakes which is fine.

My dad told me not to press the blade against the skin, because that causes razor burn and bumps and zits etc. It's better to glide it and let the blade do the work. He said barbers are taught to shave by shaving off shaving cream on a balloon without popping it.

Down or sideways but NEVER up. Also took me some time to learn to never slide the blade across the skin (makes cuts, lol). So as soon as the blade is on the skin, start pulling down. Or get a norelco, lol.

Do it gently...with lots of love and care.
What a sensation it is!

I do it manually, it took me some time to learn how to do it right, but now I'm almost professional. Using shaving spray and the shaver. Just make sure you're in a lit space and you have a mirror in front of you.
Peace out.

If you have a lot of hair down there, trim it away with scissors first, then use an electric shaver. Phuck using manual razors, that shit hurts and is too itchy.
