When soft mine is just about long enough to cover the head. Viewed from top or the side you don't see the head. Viewed from the end the foreskin may be completely closed or there may be just enough space to get a glimpse of the hole in the end of the head. There is never enough spare for an overhang.

When hard it pulls back a bit so some of the head is showing but it isn't fully back, like behind the rim.
