I'm 16 now and for some reason ever since I started puberty my weight has been increasing. Before it was like small and unnoticeable but now I'm classed as overweight and I don't know what's been up. If I can't find an answer I'll see a doctor because I've been physically active and I eat right I tried explaining to my parents and they just think I eat unhealthy food in private or something. Is this a thing or is there something else going on? Has anyone else experienced anything similar

You are growing and maturing dude. If your tummy isn't bulging out you are building muscle mass and growing that is why you are putting on weight.

According to the Irish Health website, boys between the ages of 13 and 17 will typically gain around 37 total pounds (17kg) naturally. This is quite a growth spurt for only four years, and teen boys require a great deal of nutritional changes in order to keep up with this gain.

Weight gain amounts differ from one male to the next due to differences in height, diet and genetics. However, weight gain drastically higher or lower than the average 37 pounds might be an indication of obesity or an eating disorder.

Probably due to increase in muscle mass.

R u sure the weight u r putting on
isn't muscle mass? Usually a guy
would lose body fat as the body
grows. Unless u r eating a lot of
junk food and getting no exercise
would u put on weight.

Well as guys get older they will weigh more. For many reasons. Height. Muscle. w/e. But ya just make sure you aren't getting pudgy and you'll be fine. If you do, just eat the right stuff, not too much of it, and exercise.

FYI tho, a lot of guys actually get leaner during puberty. Like they will have "baby weight" from grade school or middle school then puberty will start and they will get skinny bc their metabolism picks up bc of hormones.

Everyone's different I guess, like I said, just don't get pudgy. And exercise is always good no matter your weight.

It could be a sign of an inpending growth spurt, when I still had growth spurts I would usually gain some weight prior to it happening, and then it would all even out afterwards :)

Hmm...Two months and it doesn't look like this guy ever posted anything ever again.

My questions would be, standing buck naked in front of a full-length mirror, what do you see?

does your stomach overhang your waist>
Are you getting "man boobs"?
Can you see at least the outlines of a six-pack (and, can you pinch more than a half-inch anywhere on your stomach?)

I have gain some weigh but I don't think it's cause of having puberty. It's cause I'm still growing.
