So I'm 17 and my brother is 20 and in recent years I've matured to be exactly like him and it's really scary. My voice is pretty much exactly like his our body proportions are the same he's just slightly taller and a little more well built in his upper body, face is the same except haircut and amount of facial hair. I don't know if u guys have experienced this and if it should bother you. It doesn't bother him he just makes jokes about it. And it's not like I think he's ugly or anything or I don't want to be like him I actually look up to him as a role model for most of my teen years I just find it really weird. I've been having panic Attacks about it. Do you guys go through this? How can I cope?

I find it very strange that it upsets you this much. I dont have any brothers so I cant really relate to your situation.
R you worried that the two of you are the same person somehow or something?

Since this upsets you to the point of panic attacks try concentrating in the differences between you and your bro. Maybe your eye colour is different or something, Maybe one of you is circumcised, ect.

If you need some form of counselling dont be afraid to get it.

If you dont want to be like him but you look like hime you gotta invent your own personality and style. You nay think you look the same but others wont, people walk in their own way people create sentances in their own way and people live their lives their own way.

Why would u have panic attacks over this?
What would u do if u were twins? Older Bros
tease Little Bros so grit ur teeth and bear it.
If he is taller-then u r not alike and even so
Bros sometimes do look alike-so what? Its
nothing to go berserk over.

Me and my brother looked almost identical when we were young, but he looks different now you can tell us apart easy.

I don't know why this should bother you. It is just a sign you are growing up too. Just accept it as a part of life. Keep looking up to your brother and keep asking him for advice. It's totally alright to resemble your brother.

What he said. Why get panic attacks over this? I wish I had a brother. I wouldn't care if we looked alike or not.

You should ask yourself why it's affecting you that much. What is it about looking like your brother that is giving you panic attacks?

my bro is 18 months older than me. When little, our mum dressed us in the same clothes, and some people thought we were twins. We look alike, but have very different personalities. I am that used to teachers and other people sometimes calling me by his name, I'm used to it. Probably because I don't know anything else

What everyone else has said, but I'll add;

If you've looked up to him so much whyndont yiunfeel, proud you look alike
Having/being a brother is a special bond thing many guys don't get
Looking alike I think would make that bond stronger
Are you afraid of that or something?

I think it's cool tbh

If you have the same parents I'm not really surprised you look alike.

Okay, I cannot relate because I don't have a brother at all, but I can do my best and here is what I got. I know that some siblings can sometimes turn out to look very similar despite their age difference, trust me. I know a ton in my Florida High School and it is freaky, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I tried to imagine myself in the younger sibling's (your) position and I imagine this:

I look up to my older sibling, they are my role model but I can't be a copy-cat. I want to be my own individual person. If people looked at me, I don't want the first thing to pop into their minds to be my older sibling. You just want people to know that your different and you are your character, and a good way to establish that is to make minor adjustments that are noticeable. I'M NOT SAYING TO COMPLETELY CHANGE YOURSELF, but things you could do are slowly develop your own style, your own voice tone, hair style. Just be confident and stand out. Make your own choices that are not based off what your older brother did. Let YOUR own experiences and choices develop your own character.
-
If you are confident, people are gonna think: Wow, he's so confident and it's cool. If you are not, people are gonna think: He's not decisive and it's annoying, he's quiet... reminds me of his brother,

point is, as long as you are CONFIDENT and let YOUR OWN experiences develop who you are, you will be fine. Looking identical to FAMILY isn't bad, nor is it good, I understand it must be frustrating and YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Good luck

I hope i helped :)

Brothers often look alike it is Genetics. I think like others are saying. your main issue is you will fall into the/his shadow and not be seen as an individual. I have 7 siblings so believe me I understand what it is like. I also have a lot of brothers and yes 3 of us look alike pretty much. You just have to find your self. Like everyone else has pointed out you will fond out ways of making yourself stand out.
