Im starting college in a few weeks and im single what should i do
the classs im doing is a field class(class/working in the field)
people tell me ill find a gf in college should i take there word for it or just stay back and be alone

This. Why are you trying to predict the future as if anyone knows what might happen or whom you might meet? Go in with an open mind, be friendly and approachable, other people there will be looking to make friends too. If a friendship blossoms into a crush, awesome. If not, well then you have great friends for company whilst you wait to meet her.

Don't be desperate , that never works . you just need to stay patient , make friends , don't hit on them , let them get comfortable with you , then see what you can do from there .

Don't rush into a relationship just because people are telling you that you'll find a girlfriend. Wait until you meet someone you genuinely like. In the meantime, as some posters above have said, stay open-minded. Besides being in a relationship, it's important to build strong friendships so you have a good support system and know you have people you can count on, especially in a new environment. Be social and meet people and talk with them and get to know them. Go to social gatherings in the community and at college. Don't be worried or over anxious to find someone and you will do fine.

Well starting at a new college is a great opportunity to meet new people and build new friendships with people. I am sure if a new relationship is something you're looking for then there might be one come up, just don't appear too desperate as others have said and do what you feel comfortable with.
