Tampons

This may sound stupid but i'm totally serious.

Girls, How did you know how to insert a tampon the first time you did it? Were you taught by someone? Are there instructions on the box?

This was done in puberty talk at school, yes the boys learnt too because why shouldnt we know.

It's usually part of "the talk" from parents or guardians or even older sisters or cousins teach us.


Other times you learn from 3rd party resources like forums like these more oriented to health and body care issues, other times it's as simple as a google/youtube search plus some trial-n-error.

Everyone has a different experience, some it's harder others it's easier despite having the same information resources.

Some can't use them at all for physical discomfort reasons, and in some cultures, the use of tampons is superficially taboo and you'll get chastised by parents or a religion's creed (doesn't even have to be religious either just weird dogmatic beliefs that no object should be there for whatever sacred patriarchal reason).

I learned through a friend telling me but sometimes parents cover it in 'the talk' or sometimes schools teach it.

My mom showed me, I think. I had issues with them at first and hated them, but they're kind of a necessity now so thank goodness wearing them is no longer an issue.

It was from my mother. I'd had an idea from school and friends, but when it actually came to putting it in for the first time, I got some help from her.

I remember my mum telling me how to do it, but I couldn't put it in first times I tried. I got my friend's older sister to help me put it in when I was staying over at my house first time I managed to use one.

I guess my question is how do you know when it is time to change it? My guy friends and I have never had the guts to ask a girl thins before.
