So, I am not a very hairy person, but after about a year, I got pubes. I wasn't too sure if I liked it, so I shaved them off. Afterwards, it left red bumps. Is there a way to prevent this? If not, I'm fine with keeping my pubes.

I can't speak from experience as I have never shaved down there, but it sounds like you just have razor burn or some kind of irritation from shaving. The best advice I can give is probably use a decent amount of shaving cream or gel next time as well as make sure you have a new, sharp razor and preferably one with multiple blades. (Like a Schick Quarto, Mach 3, etc.)

If they are really small then i think its normal. Do u have really sensitive skin?

Shave only while taking a warm shower: it'll help to relax your skin. Always use a sharp razor. Consider not moving your razor against the growth of the hair, it'll reduce the irritation dramatically. Hope it helps  You will probably feel itchy anyway, I think there is no way to prevent this completely, but those advices might help to amend the situation.

P.S. Oh, and there is a nice article on wikihow (http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Razor-Bumps-in-the-Bikini-Area), you might wanna check it out too! It is actually for women, but will work for men just as well

Having pubes there is no choice. You are definitely going to get them. If you do shave you need to use a new clean razor and a good shave cream to help prevent chaffing or those red bumps. Edge shave gel is a good brand and helps to prevent chaffing.
Personally I love pubes and think they look great. I trim mine slightly. I think mature guys that shave look weird and child like and that is gross to me. Just my opinion.

thats irritation. shaving cream might help but more than likely not. only way not to get bumps for sure is dont shave them.

soft moist skin is needed before you start. i shave every other day when i take a shower. i did get some bumps or irritation at the start but no longer. you could use a hand lotion on the area after, that will help

I think FameMonster summed it up pretty well. Ultimately there's no guarantee that even if you do everything right that you might not end up with some bumps. I've heard that using some good aftershave cream as soon as you've shaved can help.

Trim with scissors or use a better razor/shaving cream. Don't cut yourself. Use anti-bacterial soap.

When I started shaving and such down there I got them too, but over time they went away. Down side is I have to keep up with the shaving, that is why my legs are hairy lol There are creams and other things you can do like the guys above said. You might ask a girl they shave a lot like their legs, underarms and things.

What worked best for me when I first started was to use warm water, a clean razor, a little shaving cream, and shaving in one direction (always down), and then moisturizing when done so you dont get irritated.

The first time I shaved down there I felt really annoying, it was so itchy. But then i started using hot water and an after shave cream and it works perfect for me to shave that way :)

You need cleaner blades or more shaving cream... If you do this again with cleaner blades and a lot of shaving cream and it still gives you red bumps then I think you should just stop. I kept mine and as hairy as it get I prefer not to shave it... If you really have to then trim it. :)

Try shaving in the shower using warm water and some shaving cream to keep your skin moist. I always use some skin lotion afterwards. Don't use any kind of aftershave...it will burn.

its normal if u not use to shave. but it will get better in time if u shave every week or so. u can use lotion and shaving cream to get it better and not shave upp agains hair thats more irritating for skin.
