yeah its pretty normal. its the bodies way of cleaning out the urethra so that after sex anything from a partner or from the environment doesnt get up inside and cause and infection.

I have certainly had that, though there have also been times when I have not felt the need to pee.

I had also heard a theory about how it may be triggered. The explanation starts with the observation that your bladder has to reach a certain degree of fullness before you feel the need to pee but, once you then start to pee you continue until the bladder is empty going past the point where the bladder is no longer full enough to make you feel like you need to go. The theory was that it was the presence of liquid (in this case urine) in the urethra that caused a continued "need to pee" sensation even after the bladder is nowhere near full and only once you've stopped (at the end) and the last bit of pee run out does that feeling go. So , the next part of the theory is that left over semen in the urethra is sensed in just the same way as a pee stream and translates to the "need to pee" feeling.

I don't remember where I read that now, and I have no idea how reliable it is, but it certainly could be true.

It has nothing to do with "holding it in." It's all about the urethra being cleaned out.

In addition, for people who have foreskin, if you pee with the foreskin covering the head, the urine will also clean out the inside of the skin.
