View Full Version : Minimum you would wait before dating someone?

I'm just curious about what a general timeframe is for people when considering if they'll date someone. For me personally, I wouldn't consider dating someone unless we had been talking for at least a month. I feel like by that time you kinda generally know if you would work or not, you aren't in for as many surprises as if you got together after like 2 weeks. Curious what others think.

I'll only settle down for someone for at least month as well.

I will date someone after I know I can trust them and that we are good for each other, however long that may be.

I couldn't have said it any better.

I agree with u-if by a month u don't get to
realize how u r connecting then dating is not
going to work-don't even ask.

What's interesting about this question is that I imagine the preferred time frame will be longer for girls than it will be for guys. I don't say that to be sexist in any unmeaningful way, but rather because there are psychological studies I've read which back it up.

Personally, I suppose I'm more feminine in this regard. I like to know someone for a few months or even a year before I really want to start any long-term relationship.

Usually, if I do start a relationship and I haven't known them that long, it ends up being out of some bout of desperation brought about by some unrelated mental conflict in the ever-changing male brain of mine. I've gotten much better at checking that, though. Much much better.
