I want to know if any of you have had the experience of actually having to explain to your parents that you are going through puberty, I mean especially if you know for a fact that neither of your parents are blind, lets just say your dad came upon you while you were doing laundry i.e washing your dirty stuff after a wd, and demands to know why you are doing laundry at 4 am, you mumble out an embarrassed.

"Dad...you know" :whoops:

hoping he gets it but unfortunately for you he doesn't, and before you know it your mom's up and asking the same question, and it becomes uber embarrassing, how do you explain to them you had a sexy dream?

Depends on where you come from most of the time, aisian cultures tend to miss the step between childhood and adult hood and therefore take less consideration to the fact that puberty changes you as a person and you do odd things. European cultures tend to be very open and blunt about it and americans can often be prude.
But ya you dont need to be soo worried about a wet dream that you have to do it at 4am that just draws more suspision to the fact. Its not like its going to grow into a monster if you leave it till the next day to do the washing. Maybe the fact your trying to hide it and do your washing at 4am just is a result of how your family and culture has portrayed puberty and bodily functions to you as somthing not normal or taboo.

I can't say that I've had to do anything like that. I'm pretty sure my parents know and so far my mom's never said anything about sheets or underwear being dirty from wet dream or masturbating. It's pretty normal stuff.

All I can say is that both my parents know that I have begun puberty. I can't speak for other's parents, but mine are not prudish when it came to my and my older brother going through puberty, whether it be wet dreams or "stained" sheets or underwear. Mom or my sister normally does the laundry but occasionally I or my brother will do it too.

I mean I'm sure my parents aren't idiots and can probably figure out I am a human being with sexual desires and the like. The most my parents have ever told me is to not get a girl pregnant before I get out of college lol.

I guess if I had to explain if I'd been caught after a wet dream or masturbating or even sex, I'd probably come up with some wise-ass remark about how "you did it too at some point" lol. My parents really wouldn't care much.

...why you are doing laundry at 4 am, you mumble out an embarrassed.

Did you and he understand the question the same way?

Maybe he wasn't asking "Why are you washing those sheets?", but "Why are you choosing to wash them in the middle of the night, rather than put them on one side and wash them at a more sociable hour?".

I can understand why you might not want to go back to sleep with cummy sheets, though there is no harm if you do, but even if you change them you don't need to wash the them before they dry - it washes out either way.

Another possibility is that your dad is one of the many guys who has never had a wet dream. It would seem surprising if he had never heard of them but perhaps he just didn't put two and two together.

i'm the 3rd/4th boy in the family and my twin and i are the youngest so tbh my parents knew we were going through puberty long before we even did wet dreams are normal -- although i've never had one because of obvious reasons -- and nothing to be embarrassed about i tend to agree doing laundry at 4 am is a bit of a red light to anyone and probably shouldn't be done at that time don't know what your dad said when you said " you know" and if he just turned or said something encouraging it will happen again so wait till the next day to get rid of the evidence if you still feel you have to

LOL-My parents r doctors and I'm an
only son-u don't know half the things
I have to go through along with puberty.
I'm like under a microscope everyday.
My Dad says he understands what I am
going through and use protection and my
Mom says she knows how teen boys r so
don't hurt myself-same thing I guess.
Moms know what u r doing-don't come
right out and tell them but don't look
innocent or make an idiot out of urself.
Don't get caught if any questions come

up -just let it ride.

I don't usually say anything or get caught, but I change my clothes when necessary. I also do laundry based on the size of clothes, not just weekly either, sometimes 2-3 times a week, too.

my parents know if the bedroom door is closed we're probably masturbating, usually the door is open. we accept nudity at home and they understand boys get erections so to be seen with one isn't embarrassing or shameful

I know things are quite uncomfortable and awkward but if you tell your parents that you had a wet dream and soiled your bedding I think they will fully understand and that will end their wondering why you are doing laundry in the middle of the night. As far as you being normal yes you are very normal. Wet dreams are known as nocturnal emissions which is the same thing but the true name for them. It happens when your body builds up too much semen and actually has to get rid of that over supply of semen so it causes you to have a sexual dream in which you orgasm and emit that semen out. If you want to stop or cut down on having wet dreams you can masturbate frequently and that will keep that build up from happening. When you are older and have sex regularly that will end the dreams too. Just know that you are a perfectly normal guy in puberty.

Unfortunately, I have never had a wet dream, so I cant relate to your experience in that respect, but when I started masturbating I used to use my shirts and socks as clean up rags which caused my mom and I to have "the talk" (very awkward situation at the time), but she was really cool about it and even bought me some supplies to use so Id stop using my good clothes.

We're starting to drift a little off the topic here but it is certainly true that in general, guys who masturbate more seem to have fewer or no wet dreams. It has certainly worked for me as I have not had any. So, it's normal to have them and normal not to have them.

I'm not sure I'd agree with the detail of what Jamie posted, though. Some people have reported having wet dreams while still masturbating a lot and in some cases even having a wet dream the same night as having masturbated before going to sleep. It is hard to believe that would have been because the glands were full. Also other people have abstained from masturbation for weeks and not had a wet dream despite the fact that the glands seem to be full or nearly full in as little as about three days.

Going back to the question of laundry, if you do your own laundry as a matter of course, not just after a wet dream, it means you would no long be attracting attention when you do have them. It also means, if you do masturbate, you don't have to be paranoid about getting spots on the sheets or underwear.

my dad realized once he noticed my briefs weren't fitting anymore (the dick area)
