So recently I have become much more devoted to my religion of Christianity (yes I'm straight but I don't care if you're not), and I have decided not to watch porn anymore. Also, I used to be quite addicted to masturbating but I haven't found it difficult not to. I used to do it once a day at the very least, now I don't at all. I had my very first wet dream a few days after I quit. Is there anybody who has had a similar experience?

Occupy yourself - I rarely do it now, maybe once a week because I'm always flat out with schoolwork, or Playstation lol, and then I'm sleeping and too tired to actually wank.

I wish you the best of luck in these endeavors. The hard and rocky road is still ahead of you. The mind is very tricky. It will try to steer you back to masturbation and porn. Just be resolute and you will succeed. Good Luck.

I think I'd rather flog the bishop than end up with wet sheets ... but as you wish.

No, I don't.

Well done for being able to abstain, most people can't. If you ever should find it too hard it maybe worth looking again at the biblical references and consider the context in which they were written.

On lust, and porn, it is worth bearing in mind that when the bible was written porn, of the kind we have today didn't exist. It was not possible for a boy or man to look at a sexy, but unobtainable girl or woman, unonbainable because she was from another town or even another country. Rather, the girls and women he could look at lustfully were those around him. With puberty being later then, and marriage earlier, the majority of them would be married and that's where the sin comes in. Adultury is a sin and there is a very strong message throught the bible againing committing adultery. Not looking lustfully at a women who is not your wife is just a means of avoiding carrying on with someone's wife on the basis that the best place to reject temptation is right at the start.

As for masturbation itself (without the porn) the bible is silent on this. The oft-quoted passage about Onan is about coitus interruptus and Onan was killed, not for "wasting his seed" directly but because he had a duty to provide a child for his dead brother's wife and deliberately avoided doing so in contravention of Gods commandment. Yes, there is the quote "go forth and multiply" but no-where do I see "to such an extent that you are unable to support the children thus created". I think it is implied that this is "within the resouces avalable to support the population".

I feel similarly but kinda the opposite way as in I used to be so scared of jerking off and wasn't sure if it was a sin or not so I rarely did it and didn't even think of watching porn but lately I've been jerking off much more frequently and slipping into the porn stuff but I'm trying to get away from that again, I find that when you're busy/not thinking about sex or masturbating you can go for quite a while without having to jerk off. But most of it is you deciding to abstain from it all

Message me if you want to chat about this!

so the wet dreams are a perfectly natural and expected reaction of your body when you don't regularly ejaculate, whether due to sex or masturbation. And it's your personal decision whether to masturbate or not.

But I don't see what religion has to do with it.

Religion doesn't get in the way of beating off. Just do it, who cares its fun.

I stopped everything once too. There was a period where for like a month or two I didn't even look at my dick. Eventually, I gave up. I too am a Christian, pentecostal, I worked in a church all summer and now I volunteer there. But I still masturbate like, every other day. Just because I love Jesus doesn't mean I love jerking off any less.

I admire your dedication dude, there's no way I could stop jerking off. So only advice would be stick to your principles and maybe you'll get through this. Best of luck to you.

I'm in a similar situation, except I don't watch porn and I have my own way of "masturbation" (probably just a fetish that makes me super hard :( ) that I prefer not to mention. I used to do it 5 times a week and now it's down to 1 or 2, but I want to get rid of it completely. I guess the only thing we can do is pray about it... :yeah:

It may be a tough road to travel, but it's doable

Masturbating is not a sin. It has nothing to do with faith. And it is certainly not a top priority in being a good christian.

You could always start such a religion. It would be very unlike many existing religion which all seem to have an element of controlling people by making them feel guilty for just being human - the "original sin" concept.

This is also why I think we have to be careful about adjusting the laws of a country to avoid offending the sensibilities of a religion. How many followers does a religion need? What is to stop someone starting a religion and claiming one of its key texts calls for the president to be assassinated and that therefore they should be allowed to do that legally?
