Horseback-Riding on wet days

Do you wear special breeches when you're riding on rainy days?
What do you wear, when you take a splash with your horse in the sea, lake or in a river? I heard of softshell breeches, which should be perfect for it... what do you wear or would prefer?

I have no experience what so ever with horse riding but I think you're super lucky to be able to ride one. Rural life is pretty interesting.:D

i'm a guy so don't wear breeches, just wear jeans and if it's raining throw on some rain pants
