When I go to university I want a laptop that can:
- Be for occasional gaming (not too much since I'll be studying just like minecraft, league of legends and stuff like that).
- Can hold the programmes for essays like word.
- Fast response to like Internet and other tools used for research.
- One that doesn't constantly need repairing and updating the software.
I don't want to pay more than £1100. I was thinking like the MacBook Pro. Would that be ok? I have no clue about computers haha.

Well I'm on a toshiba atm. Its great and reliable, but missing a few features like a webcam but in terms of everything else it does the job, I play games on it, the internet capabilities are good, etc.

Get anything ASUS, for the money you save not getting a Macbook Pro you can use to get Microsoft office or something.

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 13'. I really like it. Despite what people will tell you, it does a really nice job of running games like Minecraft. Oh, and Macs don't get viruses, so that's nice too.
Honestly though, even though I'm a Mac user, they are overpriced as fuck. Talk to some store associates and join some computer forums and ask what computers are like the MacBook Pro but not a thousand dollars but rather seven or eight hundred dollars.

I have a Samsung laptop 750GB storage with I think a 2.2GHz processor (I have no idea what this means btw) and it's the best laptop I've ever had.
Maybe that's because I know to be more careful now as I've learned from the mistakes of what I did to my laptops in the past. I've had it since September 2012 and it doesn't have to many problems, it's actually great, and I think it cost between £300 and £400, just incase you're looking for a price

You'll get what you pay for. The MacBook is worth it. Yes, it is overpriced. Yes, you can get similar specs with a PC. No, you cannot get the reliability with a PC. No, you usually don't get the same quality components with a PC with similar specs (for what most people would pay. If you pay the same $1,000+ USD for a PC, it'll probably be as good as the Mac quality wise)
The best part about a Mac is that it is not uncommon to have the same one 6 or 7 years from now. If you get a Mac, you'll upgrade because you want to, not because you need to.

You won't need much of a laptop, seeing that its use won't be demanding to hardware rescources. If you're doing a college in design or programming or something, consider the specs of commonly used programs such as AutoCAD, Adobe CS, Visual Studio or so.
@LifeOfLove, PCs also last longer than 6/7 years. It's the necessity for more powerful computing that does make us upgrade. I got a completely functional 9 years laptop and it's still working.
