I have a crush on another guy in my class

I'm from a small town, and I just started in a different state. The school is much bigger. Anyways, there's this guy that sits across the room from me in French class. He is VERY attractive, but seems shy and doesn't really talk much. I'm the same way. Anyways, he's caught my eyes a couple times today staring at him, and he's been staring at me too, and he smiled at me across the room, I smiled back.

Yeah, so I just want to befriend him and see how that goes. I'm pretty shy so I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing that, without it being really weird. I only have two classes with him, and I don't see when I ever have the chance to see him outside of then, perhaps at lunch. It looks like he is trying to talk to people, do he has just been trying to be friendly to whoever he can, but half the time he just doesn't talk and reads or he's writing in his notebook... any advice on how to talk to him or approach him without sounding too weird...?

Just go up to him and explain that you're new here and maybe discuss homework or something general to begin with. Then perhaps talk about where you moved from, and perhaps he'll open up a bit more! I know it's difficult to initiate the conversation but you'll never know if you don't try :)
