This really attractive guy said : "Hey babe" to me, this might seem like a dumb question but does it have a meaning?

Just a greeting from someone trying to be cool.

Some guys/girls use 'pet' names freely, so depends who he is as a person. Personally I don't like being referred to as 'babe'. Babe was a pig in a movie.

Some people use them freely, but it could also be a flirtatious move too. I'd be careful how you approach it, though. He could be saying that to lots of other girls too! :P I know this from experience.

It isn't just a pet name. Babe in means baby. It's an endearing term referring to girls or young women who seems to be hot good looking chicks. :D

It could have been a simple greeting or him trying to be flirtatious. How openly pet names are used depends on the person. Do you know him? If so, you can probably tell how he meant it by his personality and how he treats others.

Well I never heard him saying that before, to anyone else.

Me personally, I only use it when I know the girl enough to know she won't overthink it. i.e. a lot of my really close female friends
With my girlfriend, we have our own names. Something a little sweeter, like "hey darling" or something of the sorts

He's just playing cool or trying to hard to be cool.
