Online relationship - was I stupid?

Hey,

This is my first OP here but I've been hanging around a bit :) so I've just had a bit of a problem which might seem like I've been stupid but wanted to ask everyone's opinion...

So IAN I met this girl online and we got on so well. She's just less than a year older than me. We messaged on Kik for a couple of months, then we ended up Skyping, just voice no video ever. She's American and I'm British. Anyway we chatted a lot and kinda had a "relationship" as much as you can have online. We messaged about everything (yeah, including like sexual stuff) and I told her things that I've never told anyone ever about me. She told me the same things about her.

Anyway she was always very instrumental in the relationship and really wanted to meet etc eventually. We shared pictures of each other BUT whenever I told her I wanted to swap phone numbers or video chat she always kinda made excuses. There were a few other things that seem a bit weird too, I won't bore you with them now but they're things that could either mean she was faking or could just be coincidences.

Anyway a couple weeks ago she told me that she had a sudden doctor's appointment and had to go in for an operation. She messaged me before she went in and told me she should be out the day after. A week later I've not heard anything.

Of course I'm worried about her but I'm also kinda concerned that maybe she was faking and she's wanted an easy way out... because I did have minor concerns while I was talking to her about that too. And I DO realise that if that's not the case that is really really awful of me to suggest that she'd do that but yeah... idk.

Anyway sorry for the essay. lol. And noone has to reply really I'm just venting really. Sorry!

Well your friend might be faking who knows. She may be just not wanting to give out
her phone number and is afraid of how she looks or something. It is so hard to tell now days on the internet who is real and who is not.

You know they shared pictures of eachother right and she even said they are in a relationship.

As for AmyUK , I guess right now you can only hope that she'll show up again. There's really not much else you can do to be honest, if she was faking it then well I guess she may have no been ready for the relationship to be honest, it sounds harsh I know but yeah, if she doesn't show up you can only move on to be honest.

I guess so yeah, I'd just rather know than just be left hanging. But I guess this is the danger of this kind of thing so yeah.
