Vaseline is great, but it will be really hard to get off your hand and penis even in the shower. Baby oil is also messy. Hypoallergenic lotion is a great option. You don't want to jerk with a lotion that is scented since it may be extremely uncomfortable. Actual lube is good water based. Silicone lube is the best feeling for masturbation, just don't use it on a condom.
