Will you have your future boys circumcised? Not unless there is a legit medical reason
What reason will you have them done or not done?
I see no medical reason to in general. If there is one, then that what it is. To cut an infant boys dick like that is mutilation, abuse, and a violation of his rights IMO.
If a doctor offers up a legit, real medical reason, like the forskin is like grown onto the head and won't seperate and WILL cause medical complications or something like that then cool. Otherwise, leave what God gave them.

What reason will you have them done or not done? I would only have it done if they had severe phimosis and there was a medical necessity for it. Aside from this and helping to stop the spread of HIV in AIDS-infested areas, like sub-Saharan Africa, I don't agree with circumcision.

Circumcision has been shown to help stop the spread of HIV in places with HIV epidemics, like rural sub-Saharan Africa. I could see supporting circumcision in an extreme case like that, but in the vast majority of other situations, I would be opposed to it.

The definition of 'mutilate' is, from Google, 'to inflict a disfiguring injury on' and 'to inflict serious damage on', which circumcision is.
Also don't turn this into a tumblr war where everything is an insult to some obscure group and political correctness at the cost of life if needed is the word of law.

Serious damage? Disfiguring? Are we talking about the same procedure here? Removing a mostly useless piece of skin which has very little impact on the functionality of the organ (unless your doctor fucked up) is not "mutilation."

So you're willing to desensitize and dry out your son's glans and take away the most sensitive part of his penis for the sake of 'cleanliness'? If you mean it looks 'cleaner', that's 100% your own opinion, and if you mean it's easier to clean, I'll say that washing under your foreskin is easier than washing your asscrack. Pull it back, wash, rinse, push it up. Simple.
I'm sorry for being a dick, but this pisses me off bigtime.

"Little function"?! The foreskin acts as a natural lubricant, contains tens of thousands of nerve endings, and protects the glans from drying out and becoming desensitized from constant exposure. That's quite a useful bit of skin, don't you think?

Agreed, for the most part. The idea that all human males are born defective and need "correcting" at birth is preposterous. Imagine if if it were females who needed this procedure done; the feminist outrage would be unparalleled. But since it's men, we just accept it as "the way things are" without question. I should also point out that preoccupation with routine infant circumcision (outside religious rituals) is largely an American phenomenon. It simply does not exist this way in Europe or Asia or most other parts of the world.

It still technically is genital mutilation, but that's beside the point. There are several steroids that can be taken or applied to the foreskin which have been shown to loosen the skin. Also, gently stretching it often can loosen it up. These should at least be attempted before chopping off your foreskin, at least imo.
Even still, circumcision should be done later in life, and only if necessary. Never at birth, and only with consent.

What reason will you have them done or not done? This is really a difficult question!! I mean, part of me is glad that I am cut because all my friends and the guys at school are cut, and I know it should matter but it is nice to fit in... But part of me wonders what it would be like to have my foreskin, I have heard a lot that it makes sex/jerking off better... So yeah I will always wonder... And that is the problem, I mean I know it is easier to have the surgery done on a newborn, but I still think it is better if he would get to make the choice on his own.

Yeah but not every circumcision is the same. I have a loose cut for instance so my skin covers the glans (and actually part of the head) when soft, except when i'm in the process of cleaning it. Sometimes like in locker rooms it even gets mistaken for uncut

2. Most circumcisions are done to where there is very little movable skin on the penis. Yours is a rare exception.

I think it's a ridiculous idea to chop off 2/3 of the penile skin, 20,000 nerve endings, the highly pleasurable ridged band, and protection and lubrication for the glans "cuz mah family duz it", but if it's what you want to do, far be it for us to stop you.

I will for sure. I think its best and more manly.
So chopping off 2/3 of your son's penile skin, decreasing his pleasure in masturbation and sex by about 70%, causing him unbearable pain in his first month of life, and eventually desensitizing his glans to the point where it's almost numb is "more manly." That's America for you, everyone.

Unfortunately the ridged band, which is towards the tip, is where most of the nerve endings are and it is pretty much impossible to be circumcised without cutting this bit off.
Part of the difficulty is who had the burden of proof. Some people have already argued that circumcision is "just what we do", i.e. a tradition and that those who think it should stop should make their case. On the other hand it seems to be if you are to alter someone's body surgically or advocate that surgery you should have the burden of proof to show that there is some advantage to doing so and that it outweighs any disadvantages and risks. To me that case is not made. The claimed advantage of cleanliness can be as easily obtained by a few minutes spent washing and the spread of HIV in, most places, is better dealt with by a limited number of sexual partners and using a condom. That nerve endings are removed which would have provided pleasure is beyond doubt, though coming up with an objective assessment of the effect on enjoymentr has proved difficult and, as with any surgery, there is risk, for example of infection or due to incompetence.
To add to this it seems to me for parents to impose a procedure on their child they should be convinced not only that the child will benefit but that the benfit would be dimished or forgone if the procedure was delayed until such time the child could understand what was proposed and make an informed decision for himself.
If someone, having the facts, decides for himself to be circumcised that ok in my book and I respect his right to make that decision. I see no good reason to impose it on anyone else, though.

Yeah the cleanliness stuff is basically a myth. I mean you can really only get in bad shape with a foreskin if you don't clean it; it's the same with the entire rest of your body. It's no harder to wash behind your ears or in your asscrack than it is to wash under there. People say the HIV risk is higher with a foreskin, but HIV rates are actually higher in the US than in Europe. Circumcision only affects HIV rates when there's an epidemic, like in Subsaharan Africa, and even still HIV rates are highest in the world there.

Trust issues?? Like what? That leaves many questions up in the air for me, and would appreciate an explanation or example of what it means. Thx ✌️
Babies have been shown to refuse to breastfeed for up to months after they were circumcised.
Let me put it this way. Imagine being born, being held in your loving mother's arms, and then being strapped to a table and having one of the most sensitive parts of your body ripped apart and sliced off, the pain from which is enhanced by your own inexperience with pain itself. Shortly afterwards, you're returned to your mother, in shock from the pain (which many parents often mistake for sleeping). Now you've got a mental association burned into your mind between 1. your mother and 2. Mind-numbing pain that most adults couldn't bear to go through even one second of. Not good for the psyche, huh?

Yeah the cleanliness stuff is basically a myth…
ripped apart and sliced off, the pain from which…
Cut *is* cleaner. Not that uncut is uncleanable, of course you can clean a foreskin. But at the end of a long day, if you were to meet someone and want to get personal, there is more likely to be some funkiness with an uncut one. The cut one would be pretty much ready to go already, and that's nice to have.
The thing about babies and pain… a shot of anesthesia fixes that. "Ripped apart"? Come on. That sounds like it came from one of those highly partisan "intactivist" sites that are more concerned with maximizing shrill-ness than being accurate. Some people who post there do it because they want to vent, not to spread genuine understanding.
Not trying to fight about whether circumcision is the one true correct way or anything. Everyone can have their own opinion. But even if you are against it for perfectly valid reasons—of which there are many—there's no need to deny that it can have *any* benefits or make it sound worse than it really is.
But the internet teaches us that the standard way to disagree is to hulk smash any possibility of support for the other side, not to just acknowledge that there are arguments both ways, weigh them, and decide what conclusion we support on balance. Let's be better than that.
I'll go first: uncut seems to be more sensitive, doesn't require any irreversible operations, and provides a handy place to store Pez. See, we can all get along :)

I'd rather have a dick that's harder to wash than a dick that i can't even feel it if things do get personal.
About the anesthesia thing, they don't do anesthesia. They can't inject it and they can't put the baby under general anesthesia, so they use this numbing cream that doesn't do shit.
And let's parse words here. In every circumcision i've witnessed or heard about, the foreskin is literally ripped from the glans, which it is fused to, with this little metal rod. It would be like if someone shoved a needle under your fingernail and started sliding it back and forth to separate the nail from the nail bed. Therefore, it is technically ripped apart.
I'm describing circumcision exactly how it is. I've acknowledged that there are other points of view and arguments, and i've come to a reasonable conclusion which takes into account those other arguments and my own morals and opinions. I've obviously had this same argument many times before, I've had time to come to my own conclusions.
You can be as passive-aggressive as you want, but let's just try not to make any assumptions about other people when we really don't even know. There! Simple as that!
And I'll agree that we can all get along. :)

There's a lot of misinformation around. Some of the "facts" you're relying on aren't true.
I'm not trying to change your mind. In fact, I haven't given a single argument in favor of circumcision. Your opinion (though different from mine) is valid, based on the large number of factors and preferences it sounds like you've considered. But your conclusion will come across as even stronger if you keep your facts really solid.

I'll admit, they do use anesthesia in SOME cases. However this anesthesia is a shot of lidocaine, which, I can say from personal experience, doesn't do shit. I had two teeth pulled when i was 11, and they used lidocaine injected into my upper and lower lips and gums as an anesthetic. I still felt it and it fucking hurt when they pulled those teeth. And those were baby teeth! Imagine what it must feel like with the same type of injection, but when it's the most sensitive part of a highly pain-sensitive newborn's penis instead of teeth.
If you're not trying to change my mind then why are you arguing at all? There's no reason to randomly nitpick. You're not my English teacher, and I'm starting to like her more than you; she's not as condescending and passive-aggressive as you seem to be. Now do us all a favor, and fuck off.

Circumcision doesn't make anything easier at all. It takes a maximum of 30 extra seconds to clean under your foreskin. The only reason it would ever be difficult to do is lack of knowledge of the foreskin, which is extremely prevalent in America. Yes, the CDC recommends it, but of course they do: they're catering to the massive medical industry (yes, not field, industry). Look at the UK, Canada, Australia: all three denounce infant circumcision, and in Australia it's even illegal to circumcise a boy without his consent.

I had my wisdom teeth removed with lidocaine and didn't feel any pain at all. Statistics say about 20% of the local anaesthetics are ineffective due to false injection, tissue inflammation, ... - nevertheless, the risk of infectivity is a lot lower at circumcisions than at dental treatments due to medical reasons.
Since there is a high risk of an ineffective anaesthesia, I'm against infant circumcision. Moreover, the boy should have a choice. I, however, understand the supportive arguments for infant circumcision.

That's false. It's not illegal. The Australian gov decided to abolish cosmetical infant circumcisions in public hospitals. In private hospitals, however, it's allowed.

What reason will you have them done or not done? I just feel that the foreskin is there for a reason, and if there's no medical reason to have it removed why bother? If my son decides later in life to have it done, then that's his own choice :)

A few of my mates thanked their dads for leaving them uncut, because they could make the choice for themselves.
It's only popular in America because of the culture, nobody does it outside America (which says something).

Why take the choice away from your boys? Just wondering.
Because if you're ever going to have it done, infancy is the best time.
• Infants heal in only a few days instead about of a month like adults
• Adult circumcisions usually require stitches (and sometimes leave stitch marks even after healing) while infant ones don't.
• Since it's a simpler, faster procedure on an infant, it costs less.
• During their brief healing time, infants aren't busy walking around, going to classes, etc. They're just lying there anyways.
• If the reason for considering circumcision is health/hygiene, might as well start racking up those benefits earlier
• Same for social benefits, if that's the reason.
• I know at least two guys who wish they were cut, but not quite enough to go through the pain and expense once older. Making to choice to not circumcise early is kind of making the choice not to do it ever, unless the guy really cares a lot.
Not saying it's definitely always the right choice, or that you can know for sure in advance. But if you think it *is* going to be the best choice, earlier is better. Plus parents make all kinds of *way* more important choices than circumcision: what religion to raise a kid, who his friends will be growing up, where he'll go to school, etc. It's impossible to not make *some* choices for your kid; the question is whether the benefits of getting circumcised early are worth it (assuming you think circumcision is a good thing anyways).

I'm not circumcised. I live in the USA where most guys are circumcised. So, I guess being uncircumcised here is oddity. My parents decided not to have me circumcised probably because my dad isn't circumcised. If I have sons I won't circumcise them either. If later, when they are adults, they can have themselves circumcised if they want. I don't consider having a foreskin is unclean as long as you have good hygiene and take care of your penis. It takes less than a minute to take care of your uncircumcised penis.

None of that makes it ok, especially "they're just lying there." No infant is consenting to something without any medical benefit. They scream. They go into shock. Some even bleed to death.
Adults consent on their own and can be put to sleep while it happens. Babies? They're wide awake...until they pass out from the screaming.
The pain medicine given to babies isn't given enough time to set in. A lot of times, EMLA cream is used...the same stuff with a huge warning on it not to use on open wounds or genitals of children.
Health/hygiene...are we really saying that we don't trust our kids to wash themselves? It's not that complicated. Heck, girls can wash their parts. Are we saying that guys can't figure it out? If it was so complex, Europe would be full of issues.
Not saying it's definitely always the right choice, or that you can know for sure in advance. But if you think it *is* going to be the best choice, earlier is better. Circumcision involves an implement of destruction and a penis. None of those other decisions even come close to harming a kid.
Look up the videos on YouTube. Look at the photos.

Im getting circumcised soon because my foreskin didnt develope normally. I am concerned that this trait could be passed on to my future sons genetically so i think that its responsible to have them cut.

Absolutely not, the only time it is acceptable should be if its for a medical reason and no other reason. Its a part of their body, they should be allowed to decide if they want to be cut or uncut later in life, no one else should decide for them. Unless strictly for medical purposes i see it as a form of abuse. There would be an outcry if we mutilated girls yet boys are mutilated and its considered normal and acceptable, it actually causes great pain and for babies there is a risk of infection and death. its sick!
