I've been friends with this girl for almost 6 years and she is my best friend. We never hide anything from each other. But I lied to her and I feel very bad about it. I'm really ashamed of myself. I don't know how I ask for forgiveness. I've also been avoiding her for days, due to some other engagements, that was really a waste. And now I feel really bad for behaving this way.

What was the lie you told her buddy?

Why did you feel you had to lie to her ?
If she's true friend and you explain things she should be understanding. She may be upset and hurt, but should be able to get past it
But why!??

Talk to her and tell her that you made a huge mistake and feel horrible about it. Then ask her to forgive you.

If you have been friends fornsuch a long time it should be possible to work something out.
Talk to her and apologise and I'm sure she will forgive you.

I agree we need to know the lie before we can answer.

Though you didn't specify what you lied about, presumably it is something related to her one way or another. If the guilt is too much then there is only one thing to do- you have to tell her the truth and apologize to her. She seems like a great friend to have, and it would be a shame to lose someone like that over something you lied to her about. If you think she is a friend worth keeping/having then you have to apologize. I'm sure she will be forgiving, at least eventually. Good luck!

No matter what you told her, the best thing to do is to apologize in person and let her know that you truly are sorry. I wouldn't be too pushy or get angry if she doesn't seem to accept it at first, but an apology is definitely the first move. I wouldn't wait too long either.

Just be honest with her so that you don't want to lie ever again

Tell her the truth and tell her you're sorry
