Seeing as that's illegal and kind of weird, don't do anything

If when she is 18 and you are 22 she still likes you, then and only then should you probably consider anything with her. But until then and unless that happens I agree that you should not try to pursue any relationship with her.

You'll have to be the ultimate judge to see if she has the maturity to be in a relationship with you, or if she's the type that's letting her crush on you overtake all logical thinking.
The relationship had to be sexually platonic if you do go for it though.
I'd advise telling her that if she's still interested in you in 4 years, and both of you are still single, you can give it a try.

And in 4 years she'll be 18.
I've known couples with age gaps like that and sometimes it works.

Yeah dude as @Mars (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/member.php?u=118045) said don't do anything!! For people who think 4 years is okay because adult couples are doing it, they're right, it is okay for adults.
Dating her would make you a pedo dude.
It is not healthy for a child that young, going through puberty, hormones and school to be taken advantage of by an adult.
I've known couples with age gaps like that and sometimes it works.
How old were these couples?

1. That's illegal
2. So what if in 4 years she'll be 18? She's 14 now and in 4 years they won't even know each other

To my knowledge it's only illegal if there is a sexual component to the relationship.
I'll PM you in a second I feel I'm going off topic for this thread.

So you don't think it's creepy? You think an 18 year old wants to date a 14 year old because of her personality?

I'm not in the OP's head, that's for him to answer.
If abuse takes place he'll have to face consequences it's that simple to me and the law certainly will be there for the younger party to use.
If there is no problem then it shouldn't be an issue if all are respectful and proper.

To be honest, I agree with the idea of "Keep it in mind, but don't make anything serious of it yet."
Reconsider when she's more mature, see if she still kinda likes you. Preferably 17-18 is the best time to look at it again.
Crushing on younger girls isn't that bad to be honest. It maybe taboo, but it doesn't have to be wrong. Just make sure you don't do anything stupid or sexual, that's crossing the line.

OP
I know we talked yesterday and as desperate as you are it is not ok for an 18 year old to be with a 14 year old. got to find someone older man.

I agree with most everything said here, on both sides. Some younger people are able to have a relationship at that level, most can not, simply not mature enough to handle it. That's why there are laws against it. So don't do it.
It's not like in my case where I'm 15 and my BF is now 18 but we e been going out for almost a year now. So even that little bit of difference is huge. She's 14 your an adult, do the adult thing.

That's too much of an age gap at those ages

If and only if you were both 18 or older, 4 years' age gap would be ok. But she's not 18 or older. Do the wise thing and don't pursue a relationship.

If age is just a number, then jail is just a room

I guess you should steer clear of it. Like said above its illegal and just isn't the right thing to do.

Well you can risk jail and hope she keeps her mouth ...shut? (too early?)
Or you can find an 18 year old to bang

I agree with a lot of what is said here, but a point only hinted at is this;
When you are 20 do you want to be helping her with her homework?
Seriously the gap in maturity between 14-18 is vast. And each year dramatically increases and makes that difference more obvious. You'll be reading about politics, responsibilities and she'll be talking about squabbles with her school friends, not having her homework in, etc.
