What do you guys and girls think about the legalization of pot. They are now considering it at the government here in the UK.
Personally I think it is a good idea.
1. It stops funding crime
2. It's safer than the illegal drugs
3. The government benefit from taxing it
4. Everyone's happy. Wait, they may be stoned.... Hmmm.
Post your views :D

I think it's a good idea. In fact, the only down side is enforcing the laws and such.

I'll put it to you this way, if you apply for a job at the DEA and you admit to some recreational pot use at a younger age you aren't disqualified for a job. I also happen to live in a state that has legalized marijuana. Although I have yet to see anyone smoke them which I'm glad.

I fully support it. The government has absolutely no right to tell the people what they can and can't put into their own bodies in the privacy of their own homes. The fact that there are good, totally nonviolent people being imprisoned for smoking pot is infuriating. How would you feel if you were sentenced to prison and branded a felon for drinking a beer or smoking a cigarette? It's an Orwellian, totalitarian, completely unjustified invasion upon the rights of the people.

I really do not think they will legalize it in the Uk.

I'd be awesome if they did legalize it in the UK though. I'm sure the number of fights at football matches would go down.
"Hey you!"
"Hey what?"
"Hey...hey."
End of argument.

I don't like pot. I don't believe it is healthy for you, and I think it will cause a lot of problems in the long run if you use it too much. I also have seen people addicted to, and physically and emotionally hurt from it. But, we should have the right to do it. As long as it doesn't hurt society as a whole as stronger drugs do, it should be legal.

Well now they are considering it. I signed a petition a couple of weeks ago to make the government consider and boom it got 125,000 signatures.
You never know!!

It's almost the exactly same argument as gay marriage. I fully support the leglisation of marijuana.

it would save the govt money not needing to enforce it, and nobody has ever died from pot... so why not?

In the state where I live, it is legal for medical use. Since I have the recommendation of my doctor to use it medically, it is legal for me to possess and use. I am a successful university student at a major institution with a 3.8 gpa. Anyone who says that pot makes you lazy or not work as hard as other people is lying. It has gotten me off of strong prescription medications and made my life much better. Who is anyone to tell me not to use something that my doctor has recommended that I use? My medical decisions should be between me and my doctor, and nobody else.

It's interesting to note that it may help those in need of medical assistance possibly to aid in removal of pain, and if released under medical control (like other prescribed drugs) would have no issues for it for that purpose - it sounds like it has similar purposes to morphine. But like morphine, those that don't have the need for it that become addicted to it generally has dire consequences. Those addicted to morphine can steal to get their next fix, and in worst cases end up dying. Addiction is a terrible thing. If pot can be used for medical reasons in a controlled environment, good. To release it in general for people to get "stoned" is just bad.

Well.. Pot isn't very unhealthy for you in itself, but smoking it is. Inhalants of any kind can be bad.

It's not so much that it is less addictive or anything, even though it is, but that it isn't as hard on the kidneys and liver is morphine and painkillers are. They can be very hard to process, and if you take them long term it can lead to liver disease, and cancer.

Well the money from pot sales are going to schools so that's good, less money will be spent on finding potheads and such. It should be legalized everywhere, I will never ever smoke it but for those who do let them.

Legalization seems overdue.
