Guys, I have a friend who likes this one girl, but he's 16 and she's 11, and I wanna know if that's considered pedophilia?? Idk, because it's only one girl, he likes a lot of other girls his age :what:

I'm not sure if that's pedophilia, but I would say it's way to large of an age gap and shouldn't be pursued regardless.

I wouldn't say it's pedophilia as he's not an adult, but it would be inappropriate for them to be together.

Pedophilia is a term used only for adults who prey on minors; both your friend and the one whom he's got puppy eyes for are minors. So while it wouldn't be illegal; I'd advise that you try to talk him out of it. Granted that either parents could file a suit for lewd acts if he were lusting with and fooled around with someone his own age; an 11-year-old's parents might be very quick to go down that route. Yes, I'm suggesting a scare tactic, but it's something to keep in mind if you feel he's trying to take his puppy-dog love too far.

Just putting this out there, yeah it may not be pedophilia, and people ha e posted that it might not be illegal. Tbh, a lot might depend on where they live. Many countries have very young age of consent laws. Here in the USA I do t know of any state that has an age of consent that young. So I'd say it's illegal here. Generally speaking.....depending on the circumstances, involvement, what kind of relationship they are looking to have, it could be imorale to. It also maybe no.

To answer your question, that's really weird and uncomfortable and I'd wonder about your friend, but it doesn't really constitute pedophilia until one person is 18+ (or, I guess, if the girl were significantly younger).

Well here in Belgium if they have sex the guy can get arrested. Honestly it's fucked up. That age difference is just way too big at that age.

In Minnesota it most likely would be a crime. If someone has sexual relations with someone over
24 months younger and is an adult it would be a felony here. The 16 year old could very well be certified as an adult by the court so no matter what,it is a very bad idea at this stage in life. After both are out of high school it would be no big deal at all. The 16 year old better back off.
