It's usually meant as fully naked. It's super comfortable, but it can be difficult if your parents don't really recognize your bedroom as your, "personal space." If you can lock the door with no repercussions, go for it, problem solved. If not, maybe try asking them to knock before entering and keeping a pair of sweatpants or shorts next to you, in case you're forced to cover up quickly.
