An Emirates airline flight from India has crash-landed at Dubai International Airport with some 300 people on board, officials say.
Images posted online show thick black smoke coming from the plane, with no landing gear visible.
The Dubai government media office said all passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported.
It said all departures and arrivals from the airport have been suspended until further notice.
The Boeing 777 was reportedly flying in from the southern Indian city of Trivandrum.
Emirates airline said there were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.
"Our main priority now is the safety and well-being of all involved," the airline said on Twitter.

And how exactly?

Not so much south from Dubai, people are dying at the hands of Emirates. Yet no considerable news exactly.

Excuse me?

The media doesn't care about the wars in the ME. Only the news from the rich places.

lol imagine the scene right now: it's 55 degrees C and a handful of government men in designer suits and keffiyeh are milling around aimlessly through the wreckage while a detachment of Filipino slaves readies their mops and buckets

Well, trying to find some good in this, I think it's amazing that nobody was injured. That itself seems very unusual. Or am I misunderstanding something?

Good thing I use MEA.

I think there was some problem with the landing gear which meant that it couldn't come down, but that's just based on the fact that all the photos show it without the gear, nothing's been confirmed yet though.

None of the passengers were injured, but I just saw that one of the fire-fighters was killed when tackling the blaze. The cabin crew were obviously professional at getting everyone out quickly and went through the emergency speeches. It's good that they got everyone out in time before the fire really got going. There's some rule I think that means that all aircraft have to be evacuated with half the doors closed in 90 seconds before they can be made safe to fly.

Good thing I use MEA.
Emirates has one of the best safety records in the airline industry, I just checked and only Cathay Pacific have a better record. EK have only had 3 accidents, none of which resulted in fatalities. The 777 itself is also a pretty reliable plane. There have only ever been six hull-losses (the plane is completely destroyed in its history) - and that includes the two Malaysian incidents and the BA Heathrow Crash

Gladly events like these are rare. Hopefully such a thing like this won't happen again for a long while.
