View Full Version : Framed for a crime I didn't commit

Hey guys I need help. So basically my family does this thing where my mom writes random questions on a white board and me and my siblings have to write the answers down to keep our brains sharp over the summer. At the end of each week she puts our names in a jar and draws one person. That person gets a prize, usual one or two of these little chocolate ball things. So last week I won the drawing and my mom broke out this huge bag of these things and let me pick two. So I picked them out and she put the bag away. Tonight at dinner she and dad divulged that someone was stealing these things and that 17 were missing. My little bro admitted to taking 4 of them and giving two to my sister. Now, the thing is, apparently my folks had a camera set up to watch the freezer they were in after they became suspicious last week. That's not necessarily a bad thing except for the fact that I had to go look in that freezer for good things for supper last Friday. I didn't get anything out because there was nothing that looked good so I got something from another freezer that is totally unrelated to the issue at this point.
So now here I am accused of being a food thief when I am not. I swear to god that I did not take any of those chocolate things, but I am still accused. What should I do? I have to tomorrow morning to fess up to something I didnt do.
Thanks for any help!:D

Firstly, I don't think camera's watching you inside the house is healthy and secondly surely if they didn't see anything in your hands it would be okay? I feel you're missing out info?

That sucks. You should not have to confess to something you didn't do. If the camera caught you getting into the freezer, wouldn't your parents be able to see you didn't take anything out of that same freezer?

It was a game cam set up in the garage by the freezer, so it can't capture video. I also hear it was not positioned to see what the person is actually doing.

Well if they had a cam on the freezer and recorded the actions at the freezer the recordings should exonerate you cause it should clearly show that you took nothing. What kind of parents set up a cam to spy on their own family anyway? I feel for you. You know you are innocent and the recording should prove it. I would ask to see the recording and ask them to point out proof you took those things.

This may be my tendency to think the worst of everyone talking, but it sounds like they already think you did it and were waiting for you to open the freezer so they could frame you on the first chance they got. Your parents sound obsessive. The item in question is literally 9 pieces of candy from a massive bag, and your parents went to the trouble of setting up a camera to catch the great candy thief?!?! Holy shit dude. This issue runs much deeper than I thought initially. Anyway, just have them watch the video back and show them there's nothing in your hands. Unless they can't see your hands in the video, show them that the bag didn't move or wasn't opened after you left the freezer.
EDIT: Just read your response. Never mind about the solution part. Sorry :/

Then how do they know it was you... I think your siblings were lying about the amount to get a lesser penalty.

Yep. Maybe they seem all sweet and innocent... but on the inside, they're monsters and it's everyone for themselves. Typical siblings...

The thing about this camera is that it can only take still pictures, amd it was hidden so that you can't see it very well, which means that it could not see what was actually happening. All of could see waa that a person got into the freezer.
I guess they must have found out that someone was taking them soon after my mom gave my the originals , so they set up the camera to find the perpetrator.

The fact they used a camera is disturbing and if the camera didn't show anything then they have no proof!! Unless you was the only one going in the freezer... In which case you will want to investigate how reliable the camera is at detecting movement and taking photos. Then you can make a case that it could have been someone else and the camera failed.

Tell me about it!
ethan-s: if your parents are going to question anyone, it should be the sibling that admitted taking any candy in the first place.

I get the feeling his parents were both only children if they didn't think of thatXD

Thing is, I wasn't the only one... my sis got in there for the same reason as me and my bro also was in there to who knows what. The big kicker is that my bro says he gave some of the ones he took to my sister, which she denied.

It was so your bro XD If I was your parents I'd remove privileges from everyone until someone admits to it.

If your sister denied he shared with her, your bro is the culprit. Guilty! :judge:

17 in one week?!?! That's a lot. I do think it was my bro, but because of my sis I think they think I had something to do with it.

Dude, no offense, but it seems intrusive and unstable of your parents to put up cameras in your house to monitor chocolate desserts. I don't know... I'd just tell them what really happened and if they don't believe you then it's their loss.

It would have been 20 if someone wouldn't have beaten me xD

That have no real proof you did anything. You looked in the freezer, so what? Unless you are the only one caught looking in the freezer, then they have nothing to book you on.In my personal opinion, your siblings took all 17. They fessed up about the 4 to make themselves look innocent about the other 13. Siblings are mean that way, they are smarter than you would think.
Talk to your parents about the lack of evidence and the possibility that your siblings took more than they admitted to. That seems logical.

this. they have no proof, so if they don't believe you, they should not be able to punish you (though obviously parent law differs from actual law)

I don't think I saw anyone post about having your parents show you the pictures. Alls they are saying is they believe your lying. Did they actually chow the pictures to you and point out what they think is proof you took them? Without that, so long as your telling the truth, I'd stand my ground and tell them to pound sand. But if you did take it, I really don't see why you'd lie about it let alone a need to steel food like that.
So is ask to see the proof.

UPDATE:
First off, thanks for the replies. It really gave me reassurance and something to lean on if I needed to.
So this morning came and went, and I never heard anything. So I asked about the situation a few moments ago and my folks said they have nothing to get me on. They told me that my bro did admit to taking four of the 17 missing balls ( chocolate ones, of course.) Which I already knew.
As far as the camera, im not sure I believe that there even was one to begin with since I never saw any evidence of it.
Again, thanks for all the comments, guys!

At least they finally admitted they had no evidence you did it!:)

So what does that mean, they believe you or not, they believe you took them but can't prove it, they've changed there position and think your being honest or what.
Reason I ask is, if they think you still did it and are lying, then they won't trust you. Trust is huge, it's a big deal....up ya no?
I'd wana make sure I know where I stand tbh.

Looks like they need a different reward system for these lessons.
Either way all's well that ends well.
