how do i get my parents to take me seriously?

i told my mom recently that i want to be a pro raper. i also told her that i dont have the things i need to be a pro raper and it would be nice if she could help me out on this journey. she said to me that im too young to be a raper and that shes not helping me with anything until i know i want to do that forever. but i do want to be a raper forever! she wont take me seriously.....

then i went to my dad. he was into rap a long time ago but gave it up. he said that it was a phase and i wouldnt want to be a raper in a year. but i have been wanting to be a raper ever since i was little!!!!

why wont they believe me and how can i get them to believe me.

Parents are kinda funny like that. I think they have like an expectation of what they want from us. And I think it's usually kinda wrong tbh.
Not sure how to get them to take you serious, or make you feel like they do. But maybe if you showed them your talent, or better, let them discover your talent....if it's that good, your showing good improvement or what ever, they'll realize how you are, maybe encoutlrage you.

I don't really know what things you need to be a pro rapper your parents have to get you but never mind.
Well I guess your parents just want you to have a secure future and wanting to become a rapper is...well there are so many guys out there who want that, that even if you have the talent you might not succeed. It takes a lot to really make it in the music industry. So I feel that is the reason why they try to talk you out of it.
If you want them to believe you, you have to show them that you have the talent and energy to reach your goal...

Please, rapper, raPPer, with two r's. With one r only, raper, means a rapist, someone that forcibly has sex with someone else. A good start to rapping is writing stuff down, and you gotta get the spelling/grammar right.

Like the posters above said, just saying isn't much. Try to write actual raps, try practicing. Get the beat, and the flow, perfect for one song. Show them you're worth the try. You said your father wanted to be a rapper, so I assume he likes (or liked) rap. Try to impress him with the best of yourself, even if it takes months to get it right.

The best way to convince them is to nail it.

I'm happy for you...but PLEASE write the words rapping, rapper with two P ...I usually don't care for other people's grammar or spelling but this gives me pics in my head I don't want to have.

Well first rapper is spelled this way. I doubt you want to rape people lol. I think they may not take you seriously because show business is a very difficult thing to get a start in. Your parents most likely believe you but just think that you are dreaming about being a star. They do take you serious on serious matters don't they?

I got to be honest, there is a reason why your parents, at least your mom, is trying to push you in a different direction. the chance at you making it so big you can make it a career is very slim. it is something you can still pursue, but you have to also try to find a career you will be able to do to help pay the bills.

for that type of equipment, which is expensive, I can also understand why your parents are not able to pay for it. if it is your dream, you got to work for it and earn it
