Hi. So loads of people have told me that I should start shaving (my parents not included) and I'm not sure if I should or shouldn't. I have a very noticeable moustache and some sideburns and noticeable chin hair. But my mum said I should wait till my birthday which is in a few months. Thoughts? Also when did you start shaving and how much facial hair did you have when you started?
Thanks

It is really up to you. If you don't like the way it looks or feels, then shave. If you are fine with it, then leave it be and live life like normal. Not really up to other people with what you do with your body.

Yes, really you should have been shavi g a while ago if you have noticble moustache and side burns, theres nothing that looks worse on a teenager then half a stache and sideburns, if you cant grow it fully dont try. You see it all the time where teens think its manly where its just uvly and bad hygine. But in the long run, it is totally up to you.

I mean, it is totally up to you and your parents, but I would shave. Teens with sideburns and mustaches just look lazy, unclean, and rebellious. Facial hair really doesn't look good until you hit your late teens or early twenties, when your jaw starts to form a more rugged and square face. As a 14 year old teenager, I would shave. I started shaving myself soon after my 13th birthday, nothing to be ashamed of.

If you like it, keep it. If not, shave. :)

That is your decision. Shave if you feel better about yourself by doing it.

If the hair is bothering you, then like others have said, then it is your choice and you should shave. My guess is that your parents are probably having a hard time seeing you physically grow up and want you to be their little boy for a while longer. However, puberty is what it is, and you have the right to ask to shave if you don't want facial hair.

In the end of the day everything depends upon you and whether or not you want hair on your face or not.

Man I was in this exact situation. Your mom just doesn't want her baby boy to grow up. I would just shave if it's getting annoying, and believe me: the peach fuzz guys get around 14-15 looks like shit. I would just shave. What's she gonna do about it?

Personally you should shave it. I have a friend who has very little facial hair growth but lets it grow out and it just looks weird man. Just shave it lol. Then again I also have another friend who lets his chin hair grow out a bit and it looks alright. But you should prolly shave it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've decided to start shaving and I'm gonna ask my dad about it this weekend. Gonna be a bit weird cos we don't realky talk about puberty much.

Its your choice for my opinion you should not shave because it will grow it back if you shave it

Depends whether you want facial hair or not. If you want some, keep them. But if you wanna shave, do NOT use a razor blade cause it will give you the sharpest beard or mustashe ever.

I'd probably shave at least until I get enough facial hair for a decent beard.

If you use a razor blade instead of a shaving machine you risk having less smooth facial hair and maybe even skin damage.

Yeah! You should shave in my opinion... But it's up to you, I shaved my face, arms and legs, but I didn't tell my parents. Once they saw me shaved, they really didn't say anything. Now I took a risk because, my parents are really strict on everything.

No reason to wait dude. My
Parents were the same way. But it's not going to change! My face looked awkward with a stupid mustache. So I just shaved it

do it if you feel it's right. don't let anyone else decide for you - you are your own person

If you feel like you want to and you know HOW to, go for it!

You should shave whenever you feel comfortable with it. Most people don't like the look of guys with facial hair before it can be full grown, so I shave, and started when I was 15.
