Everyone makes mistakes, especially when they have a ton of pressure on them. Jumping all over the police whenever they make a slight mistake is hypocritical. Would you rather live without them?

That wouldn't be surpirising that US policemen always take their guns for any circumstance and are under constant pressure because they know there is a high possibility that, however is in front of them, is armed.
Just a thought people.

Cops are like the line-backers in football. When everything goes great, no one cares about them at all. When they make a mistake, they are all over the news and media.

No of course I would not want to live without them but that does not mean I want them being racist and trigger-happy then hiding behind the excuse 'I thought he had a gun'

[...] being racist [...]
Do you have any evidence that this occurs at a meaningfully systematic level?

this is why I always make sure it's the right unarmed man before I shoot

unfortunately, as in any profession, there are individuals who should not be in that profession. AND, we should not, yea we must not, judge the whole profession on the actions of a very small number of bad decisions made by individuals. "I thought he/she had a gun" doesn't float. How in hell can a "trained" professional mistake a toy car for a real gun? And then explain, I shot the wrong guy. If his aim is that much "off" he should not be allowed to touch a gun unsupervised again until he has received training and then demonstrated proficiency on the firing range.
To the profession of law enforcement I thank you for your service. To the misfits, bye!

Isn't this the one where the police shot that black man who was looking after his special needs friend?
Yea, it wasn't an accident though.
Its obviously the guy's fault hes the one who was helping his friend while being black

Yea, but I do think it was an accident. The video doesn't even show the shooting anyways, but eyewitnesses say that the police officer guarding him got extremely nervous and shot the guy. Totally inappropriate I think, but I think its more about the police officer being inexperienced than actually racist.

Police trigger discipline should be worked on. I mean, the police here shootbyou only when they see you brandishing a firearm or if you pull a bladed weapon near a person.

How it should be! Similar training here in the UK and across most of Europe. The training of American police is a joke. They have hardly any training in de-escalating situations and are afraid to take the slightest risk. For such a developed nation as the USA the police training is inexcusable.

I was looking at some video about Rio. I thought police shootings were bad here, but in Rio de Janeiro its much much worse. In the US there is something like 1 in 28,000 chance to get shot while arrested. In Rio, it's 1 in 27. That's not to say that the US is perfect, but I would say that we are not the worst. Also, we are getting better in many cities, thanks to the scrutiny of the press.
