View Full Version : Cancel the election!!

We have the two most unpopular candidates in history. I know how it happened but it should be inconceivable that the most unpopular candidates should get the nominations. I know, I know. One got there by support from angry white people who would nominate an obvious lunatic to spite liberals, and the other worked the party system for years to get it. Why don't we just cancel it and better luck next time?
Doesn't seem right. But I'm not one of those people who would trash our constitutional democracy to make it like I think it should be.

The problem is you guys only have two parties who are conservative and liberals dont have anyone. The democrates are conservatives who are pro-choice and for gay mariage. The republican party they are a fucking cartoon. South Park couldnt write anything crazier then that.

You know what I think? Either America should take a break or opt for a Prime Minister. Or you know, somebody bomb it. I'm fine with either option.

This election is nothing like I imagined it to be two years ago. Hillary is crooked and only got the nomination due to party relations, and Trump has a huge ego that happens to go well with the disgruntled conservatives. But I really don't see how cancelling the election will make it better. For some reason, America chose these two so we must deal with it.
I am in no way in favor of America going towards a parliamentary system of multiple parties. All that does is split the voters up, making it so that a united minority can have more power than a divided majority. The recent elections in the UK and Canada show that the elected leaders rarely gets over 50% of the vote.
I just hope that Congress would step up and stop letting the presidency trod all over them. Obama and Bush both have abused the power of the presidency in ways the Constitution prohibits. A united Congress, which would probably happen once either of these take office, should keep the executive in their place

Even in the 1864 electon during the civil war plenty of people called for the election to be cancled until the war was over. but it was Lincoln whio said "we cannot have free government without elections" so no matter what happens, elections are necessary to maintain our free government, so keep it going and lets see what happens.

The problem is that there is only two party who are both conservative, with a parlementary system theres more options and you can vote for what stand for instead of voting for the least worst.

Well after a row of bad presidents (as I wouldn't consider Bush or Obama A+ presidents either ) those two are what America wanted...they have been elected as the candidates remember so it is what people wanted, right
Maybe if we have to suffer for the following years due to having voted for some shit candidate people will wake up and realise what democracy and politics is about.
People just seem to have voted Trump to spite the others and due to their frustration with their whole situation.
Clinton, well I hope that even if it was all about party politics, I still hope she gets a gripnon herself and we have at least one halfway agreeable candidate.
Well maybe we have to walk through a dark valley with a bad president to come out as a great nation again or we are lost forever :p

Well I know Trump is very verbal and has said some things. He is learning through the campaign that he needs to think before he speaks and I think he would do alright. If you listened to his speech last night you could see he has become more presidential and calmed down. The mud slinging between him and Clinton has just been warming up though I am afraid.

Well you won't change Trump totally that is what he is. I just meant to say that he is calming down and starting to act more presidential than he did at the beginning of the campaign. Hillary has quite a mouth on her too if you haven't noticed. The way she treated White House staff and Secret Service agents in the past is shameful and very uncalled for to say the least.

To be fair Trump's supporters are rarely ever the violent ones. Often times it is the protestors against Trump that incite the violence.
I too felt he was more presidential in his speech last night. He referred to Hillary as his opponent rather than "Crooked Hillary". He gave in-depth review of his policies. I thought it was a great speech for Trump and it shows how much he's matured this election cycle

I do the same whenever I hear Clinton speak. You clearly do not support Trump and will find anything that he says insanely stupid, as will I in terms of anything Clinton says.
While you are certainly entitled to your own opinions, you should not tell others how they should think a certain speech went. Instead, give actual intelligent arguements as to why you were not a fan of the speech and perhaps then you would be able to change somebody's mind.

I never told him to think like me.
You want arguements? Sure.
Trump talked about Mexican and Syrian (lol) refugees. He then says 2 sentences later how he needs to know where they come from. This makes no sense as he said himself where they come from
Then, he said the US has Syrian refugees. You tell me how they will ever get in the US? They have virtually nothing and have to go to Europe on foot. Here in Belgium we have an actual problem with Syrian refugees flooding in.
He said no people from countries that had terrorists should be allowed to immigrate into Europe as far as I understood him. That is literally Europe.
He said the Orlando attack was Islamic terrorism, it was not.
I can also talk about other stuff but this is regarding the speech.

You did tell him what to think, you clearly questioned his thought process by saying "you do realize his speech was insanely stupid right?". This was implying that he should think the same way you do, and that is that the speech was stupid.
That first arguement is awfully nit-picky and for all I know could have just been misunderstood by you, I did not catch this in the speech so I could be wrong, but regardless it is not a strong reason to think his speech was stupid.
There are multitudes of Syrian immigrants that have been permitted in the US by the Obama administration, please refer to the picture that has been supplied at the bottom.
He has no jurisdiction over what presides in Europe, yes. But it is the correct in saying what he did as Europe is making a mistake by admitting all these immigrants in. The bombing in Brussels was proven to be masterminded by a fake Syrian immigrant.
And to conclude, all evidence points toward the attack in Orlando as an act of Islamic terrorism, ISIS even claimed responsibility for it.

The fact that ISIS claims it clearly means that they felt the attack was inspired by their belief system, so it was an attack of radical Islam.
And no, the mastermind behind the attack came into Europe on a fake refugee visa, and was able to freely move between France and Belgium in order to orchestrate the attack and go into hiding.

What I meant was thay this was not organised Islam terrorism. Is there proof ISIS is behind this appart from them claiming it? And their claims are no solid proof. I never denied it being a Muslim attacking, I do deny it is organised terrorism like Brussels and Paris.

The US hasn't done the educational job it needs to do in order to have informed voters that pick the candidates that are truly best for their nation. This is what happens in return. No need to cancel the election, learn from it in four years from now.
