Basically, I have a dilemma. My school stupidly only allows us to choose 3 option choices, I have already chosen to take Food & Nutrition And Computing, And for my third option, I want to take either:

History Modern World
Classical Civilisations
Geography.

I am currently the same level in both History and Geography, However, overall I have preformed slightly better in history (I got a 6C in Year 7, compared to a 4A in Geography). I am currently a 6A in both History And Geography, both teachers have said I'm capable of doing well in both, but I have to make the agonising decision between the three above.

When I leave school I am looking towards doing something with Food, or Game design.

So, basically what would you choose out of the three listed above? Which is more fun? Which involves the least amount of coursework? Which is respected the most in regards to employers?

I think Geography as it can have elements of science.

I do History, and you only have one bit of course worlk. It's pretty good tbh it depends on whay you feel you will reach your best potential at. We can give you our experiences, but yours may differ greatly. It's ultimately up to you dude :)

Computing - excellent choice :)

You will find geography will probably leave you with the least work to do (although entirely dependent on the examination board).

From personal experience, my advice at GCSE (and at A Level for that matter) is to simply choose subjects that you are good at, and most importantly enjoy. 6th form colleges/schools/universities/employers are NOT particular about the subjects you chose anywhere up to 6 years ago.

Geography. Finding out about cliff damage and falling house prices due to erosion was fun in my opinion

Difficukt decision as i took both History and Geography at GCSE, i should say geography because i came out with an A. But maybe Classic Civilaisations, i seriously wish i could have taken it!! My college do it but the course was full so i had to take something else, but its is seriously one the coolest subjects ever and literally everybody i have talked to about it loved/s it :D but good luck with your choice! My votes goes to either Geography or Classics :)

Thx for help guys! Went for Modern History in the end, I just felt it would open more doors in regards to jobs rather than Geography, I was SO close to putting Classics down. The only thing im not looking forward to in Modern is the teacher. But hey ho.

Up here once you take geography to a certain level it counts as an extra science so I would recommend that as your choice for game design but I'm not sure if the English system considers it the same way

Geography is quite fun I took it last year and got a C... A lot of coursework that consists of graph work and basically a 25% coursework thing which I got a B on. The exams were easy but then I was on foundation, I could of got a B if I was on higher. in year 7 I was performing at a 3a in geography and passed.

This is a fact. Universities love History. My school gives 4 options and I'm doing:
History (4a beginning of year 7, now year 9 and 7c)
Geography (4a year 7, 6c/b year 9)
Mandarin (Chinese) (1c year 7, 5a year 9)
Business (all new! But in maths I'm 8a so that will help)
Ask your teachers about classics. What do you want to do when u r older, do stuff that will influence your future

Geography can be terribly interesting, but also terribly vague.

History of the Modern World: Elaborate please. This would be my personal choice, as it's the most interesting [completely subjective, of course] and relevant as well.

Classical civ is always fun to review and laugh at what went wrong and all the crazy people back then.

I'd judge that employers would not give two shits whichever option you chose.

History of the modern world sounds like fun, I'd suggest that.

History Modern World. That's the most relevant to those three aims.
