Compression shorts

Hi all,
I'm new to this compression thing.
I'm wondering what the purpose of them are and what they are good for.
Are they good for someone who wants to start running?
What's the sizing like?, do you get the same size as you are in underwear or what?
Also what brands do you like?
I'm thinking of getting skins or 2xu or maybe Under Armour.
Also what do they feel like?

Ok there good for sports and physical activity and the sizing should be close to your normal underwear size the brands I wear are adidas puma etc.

Just put them on one leg after the other then adjust your junk if needed

So no particular way to put them on to avoid stretching them?

Nah not really I would normally just come back to its normal form from a non exaggerated stretch
