Hey guys.

A guy asked me out on a "date" per se. We agreed not to spend money to eat out but at his place instead. I'm really nervous, only because this is my first serious date. I've been watching a lot of horror movies so you would know how scared and anxious I am at this point. He seems like a sweet guy.

Any advice on what to do on this date and how to get rid of these negative thoughts?

First stop watching the horror movies. :) Then start think positive thoughts. You said in your post that he seems like a sweet guy. Take deep breaths and go with the flow and have fun.

Lmao horror movie date nervousness. Just think the chances of him being demonically possessed are like almost none.

It would have been easier if y'all went out and did something but it's whatever. Just try to keep the mood light so it's not like y'all are in a library or something lol

I'm such an awkward person, so while I'd try to make my best first impression, I would fuck up and embarrass myself lol. We chose his place because apparently he cooks really good pasta and probably watch movies while we're at it. I'll keep the mood light, thanks!

Dude, if your yourself, and just relax, forget all the horror movie stuff and focus on the both of you you'll have a great time. I've only had like 2 dates kinda like that, and both ended really great, cause he's a great guy. It just about getting to know each other, in every way is all....

I would ask for some more time to know him before going to his place, like a second or third date. It's a totally not awkward and reasonable thing to say. If money is an issue, why not suggest going to a park or other venues?

At the same time, you did say he seems to be a sweet guy. (yay!) Telling someone where you're going/who you're seeing should more than suffice. Just chill, be yourself, and have fun!

Hope it works out :)

The park sounds like a great idea and yeah, I'll let someone know just in case. Thanks!!! :)

Yeah, never thought about the safety side of it, despite the horror movie thing. So yeah, where your going is important, just in case. But I'm sure you got nothing to worry about, especially if he picked you, cause your an awesome person

I would try meeting him in public places first, even if it is just a walk around the park or whatever until you feel more comfortable (even then, let someone know where you are going just to be safe)

just be yourself and not act like you're something else. ik that sounds cheesy but its true. i think it's really sweet that he is going to cook for you. there's no need to be paranoid of what will happen bc like you said he seems nice and his intentions are most likely too. try a comedy movie, the mood will be lighter just like you want.
if you're uncomfortable meeting at his house, you should tell him you'd prefer to go elsewhere first. good luck!!!!

As long as you know him well enough to go to his place I would watch horror movies with him ;3

But whatever everyone else says will probably be better

-update-

The date is in an hour, we chose to eat out for ice cream/restaurant and take a ride around town. Hopefully, it'll be less awkward!!!

Umm. I hate to throw water on the party, but what's the age difference? He's got his own place and you're on VT. This doesn't sound like the best.

He's 19 and I'm 17. He lives with his brother.

That was the most romantic date ever. We rode on his motorcycle to a pastry shop, and we got a lot of ice cream, sat by the shop and talked our asses off (interests, hobbies, career goals). Then we went to a small baseball game, sat on the bench and talked about our families. Then we drove around a bit and he took me home. I was so awkward and was like "I don't know how to end this date" so he asked for a kiss and then he kissed me back. We kept contact so we're going to hang out next time, probably after 4th of July at the beach.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I mean it. Without it all, this date would've flunked and there would be no connection!!!! So thanks again.

Those are the best kinda first dates really. Just get to know each other, no intense stuff, just be yiu and he be him and have a great time and stuff. Sounds like younguys had a great time together, I'm really happy for you, nice guys don't come around to often like that do they?
What kinda bike does he got?

I agree. I don't recall the bike's company but he told me it was a vintage type. He taught me when to get on/off and he was like "you can hold me" which I found so romantic lol. The wind and the thrill of him just driving around was amazing.

Alluring,

First dates are usually pretty rough because it can be kind of awkward, but the best thing to do is practice what kind of small talk you'll make. You *will* have to make some small talk after all. First dates have a ton of that.

I read from an article somewhere that the FORD acronym helps with things to talk about when small talking someone so that it doesn't get awkward. It means Family, Occupation(job/work), Recreation, and Dreams. You could talk about any one of these topics if things get awkward, but just be prepared with some questions in case of awkward silence.
