Losing my best friend )=

Hi!

i think i am losing my best friend. I have been friends with him since elementary school, and i still am very good friends with him right now, but i think i am going to lose him as a friend over this summer. This summer i am going to my lake house and away from him all summer. He recently got this girlfriend a part of another friend group and he has been sticking with them recently. I unfortunately am very shy and i cant really get to know them well. Also this year in school i have not been in any classes with him, mainly because i am the honor student and he is really not that. What/Is there anything i can do to salvage the friendship we had in the past, or is it ultimately going to end?

Friendships are weird, it's like sometimes they come and go. The ones you have in grade school....then middle school, it's like you expedience new and different stuff, and your meeting new people. So it's pretty common to get new/ different friends. So don't worry about it to much, just try and stay in touch, and if he does the same, then the friendship is good. If it seems like your always reaching out to him, one sided, maybe wasn't what you thought it was...

I understand that you must be feeling quite down right now; but don't worry. Friends do come and go, and fall out and come back together, but any true friendship should last for quite a long time. I think that the best method could be is to try and talk to him when he is not with the other group, and see if you can do something together. Just the two of you together could help you become stronger again, but if the whole group goes, that is the perfect opportunity for you to meet and perhaps become close friends with them as well. If you find that he is simply ignoring you, then obviously he isn't a true friend. If you guys were quite close it should be quite easy for you to get back together again.

If he is a true friend then I don't think that he will dump you. You can still text or call each other this summer and keep in touch. Be the man and take the first step.

I hope it works out for you. It's something in life we may have to deal with. People will come and go in our lives. You may have to spend time apart. If you end up losing contact, it just happens, but if it does, don't let that take away from the good times you had. I know I'm shy myself, so I know how hard it can be to try and make new friends. You might get lucky, if it's a really good friendship, it may pick up again at some point in the future!
