This is amazing!! Wish the rest of the world would follow:)

Meh, Norway is on the bottom, now if China woukd decide to care about the climate and the environment, that would truly make a difference. I mean in some places they jave smog so thick that an aerial bombing would be incapable due to a lack of visibility, even with instruments.

Yeah I knowwww but it's nice to see some countries take it seriously! Hopefully with tech like carbon capture, china becoming carbon neutral will become more realistic:)

Doesn't seem too surprising concidering 1/4 of the people in Norway drive electric cars. I have been there and literally everything you see are Teslas.

Actually only two countries managed to be carbon neutral, Vatican (not too hard for them though) and Bhutan :D .
Costa Rica is hoping to be carbon neutral until 2021. Iceland has over 99% of electricity production from hydro power plants and stuff. A Denmark's island (Samso island) is completely neutral, and even produces more electricity that is sent in the country, they hope putting this system everywhere in the country. Spain has a city (Logrono Montecorvo) that will soonly be carbon neutral, alongside with the island of El Hierro.

Plus there are big important companies that want to achieve this 0 carbon, like Dell, Google (that would be awesome), Pepsico, etc etc.

So yeah I'm pretty optimistic about that, and big countries like China and USA will sooner or later take serious measures :D

I hope so!! I think carbon capture projects will save us!!:')

Although it is annoying how everyone only thinks of CO2 and not other harmful gases:(

Don't be too optimistic on China and the USA. Also Japan is a big consumer aswell. Their whale hunt hurts the ecosystem aswell. Japan China and the USA are consuming too much to just stop all of the sudden. They can't and won't.

Carbon dioxide isn't the only problem the world has when it comes to the climate changes.

TheFlapjack If you only reduce your carbon dioxide output then you won't save yourself. There's more to be done. For example electric cars won't stop factories from dumbing radioactive waste in the water and won't stop the whale hunt.

I know buddy! I also find it annoying how cars pump out nitrogen oxides but no one brings any attention to it because there is no solution, aside from electric cars of course.

There is so much that must be done but I am really excited about carbon capture but even I am doubtful about its effeciveness.

I hope nuclear energy will save us!

I think you forgot to mention wind energy, water energy and solar energy. The last one is actually one that can supply power for the entire world if they fill up a part of the Sahara incase you're not aware.

I have heard that before but it is very impractical the whole world relying on the Sahara! Countries like having their own power sources for political reasons and as for wind and water energy, they're good but wind turbines are eye sores and water energy is good with them little turbines at the bottom of rivers but I can't see it supporting the world either.

Do you not like nuclear energy?

I like nuclear energy but here in Belgium the quality of our power plants is absolute dogshit. They close every few months. I don't think the turbines are eye sores to be honest. You can build them in sea like at our coast. There's not allot but they keep building new ones.

Nor do I buddy! Some people actually think they're pretty! But rich land owners hate them and so they're hard to build! Yeahhh that's the problem with nuclear energy! It is crazyy expensive but we can't afford to let them cut corners and I suspect that is why they're closing! State run nuclear energy programs would be awesome, but crazy expensive and I can't think of many world goverments willing to pay for it.

You don't have to build them in some land owners field though. As I said, the sea. Here in Belgium we have them.

Sounds good - not a universal solution to climate change in general, but a major step in the right direction.

I also hope nuclear energy will take a good part. Currently in France, it's up to 80% of our energy production, which is awesome. The power plants are also very secure and very modern. The thing is that the ecologists accuse the radioactive remains (they are kinda right), but it happened in Germany where they closed almost all the nuclear power plants to replace them...with coal power plants ?!!??
Like...what's wrong with you guys.

Also I found an awesome article about how we are gonna make future generations understand the places where radioactive remains are stocked must not be opened in case they do not speak our languages anymore, it is really interesting : http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/green_room/2009/11/atomic_priesthoods_thorn_landscapes_and_munchian_pictograms.html :D

Nuclear energy is very viable as an energy resource due to it releasing a great deal of energy and lasting a very long time. It is dangerous due to radiation released if the power plant gets damaged (for example the fukushima power plant incident) , but just compare it to other sources of energy : coal power plants will not last due to coal running out in the next century or so given our usage, and renewable sources of energy (eg. solar, wind, etc.) do not meet our energy demand. Nuclear energy combines the benefits of both these sources of energy, being long lasting and producing enough energy, and the deaths caused by incidents like the fukushima power plant is lesser than the deaths caused by a worldwide energy crisis which will lead to war and the entire world to break down.
