Hey there !
I'm french, and since this is a very cosmopolitan (did I spell that right ?) forum, I was wondering, how do you see France ? Do you see us just like the stereotypes are ? (You know, dressing well, eating snails and being rude) (snails are sooo good by the way).
So yeah say what you think :)

I've been to france a few times on my way to belgium:) One of my best friends is obsessed with the country, speaking fluent french and listening to french music:)
As for steryeotypes, I don't believe them! Every French person I have ever met seems just like everyone else in the western world:')

Not at all, I think you're a pretty decent bunch (your country is beautiful), and I can actually speak French and it's a wonderful language as well.

I like France. It's a pretty diverse and interesting country. To me, the few French people I've met seem to be more polite than Americans. It's not really that hard of a standard to surpass though. One day I want to go to France and go to the Alps.

France is beautiful and French people are really friendly :D might just be saying that because the only French people I know are my family tho lol. I tend to notice in politics and on the news that French people are very nationalistic(patriotic?) tho which isn't really a bad thing

There's not really an equivalent...all what I can say is that it is chewy, and salty, and good af. You should try frog legs too !!

Eeeh...excepted when it comes to sports, french people are not really that patriotic. If you go down the street with a french flag and with a T-Shirt "Make France great again" you'll be seen as an extremist and...well. Also, being too patriotic isn't really a good thing in the EU.
When I went to France, they were very rude, but their food is good.
Haha I guess you went to Paris. Parisians are really rude when they are late (which is almost all the time), and when they come back from work since they are tired.
Oh also when they don't get their food on time ahaha

I didn't mean like American patriotic, but more collected than open to others type thing lol. I wanna say xenophobic type but not to that extent, know what I mean?

Oh yeah I see what you mean. Well when it comes to strangers, it's really weird. If he comes from Italy, or Germany, or any European country, he's expected to be nice and hardworking. If he comes from Africa or Middle East, there's some form of discomfort and you can easily be called racist (especially on TV or things like that)
Also, french people know lots of stereotypes on other countries, we like to laugh about bad stereotypes (ex : fat american, nazist german, hairy portuguese and thief romanian), which I think is really sad and it gives a false vision of the other countries.
Btw if you wanted to know, we see USA as a big invasive country, with racist tendencies. But we still like you for the fast food (that we denounce too, but we gonna eat a McChicken right after), and for the explosive cinema...
(oh and we still think you owe us a lot after the help we gave you for your independence)
I went to New York twice, and I really liked a lot, even though I won't go a third time to NY because it's really noisy and too big and food too fat and where's the "bistrot" ? (the last one was obviously a joke)

Well I like the way the French have so many races living (relatively) peacefully. It's a beautiful country! I love hearing the language (sounds sophisticated in my opinion) and it's got some great places to tour.
Plus you've got the Euro coming right up. Why wouldn't one wanna visit France?

Your country as an united entity has no future, give it few decades and it will split in two.
There are even movements calling for Wallonia to become part of France and same goes for the Flanders to become part of the Netherlands. Who knows..

As it should be! This is one of the few things I agree with you with :D. Belgium was an imperialist project created by Britain to curb the influence of rival countries. As a nation it is baseless.
That being said Belgium has made some cool things, like food and Tintin comics.

It's true, I too want to see the country split. I actually only see a benefit in joining the Netherlands. First off all the language wouldn't be a problem anymore, maybe still in Brussels but atleast everyone in the country is able to understand eachother.
The Wallonian politicans won't be able to ruin even more politicly and economicly since if they join France I'd assume they won't have allot of power there politicly.

We are often seen as a failed country and honestly, we kindoff are. We were created by Britain and then split by Britain since we were a big economical powerhouse at the time with the industrial revolution going on. Now though we're well, not really that special.

I think this might be a common perception of Americans about the French. And I think in reality, they are not. I thinks it's kinda like a cultural thing. Like they just have a way of saying things as like customary, and as compared to how we say stuff it's just different is all.
But to OP; I think France is cool, I never been there, but I'd like to. There are a lota bueatiful places there, and I hear the food is awesome, and I love snails to. Cooled up in garlic and butter what ever you call that I forget

Well that's a culture thing. In the US people tend to be very friendly towards tourists (especially in restaurants and such). In France (and also here in Belgium to be honest) it differs. Especially here though waiters tend to not give a shit and just do it for the money.

It also depends on the restaurant, but yeah most of the time the waiters are in a part-time job just to get some money to pay university.

My dislike of the French is almost entirely fueled by the way they act once they come here.
They think they're going to find a bit of France in North America, and they're disappointed when they realize they've found a bit of North America that happens to speak French instead.
And then the whining starts...et ça ne finit plus. According to them, France is the #1 bestest country on this planet. Alright, then why did you leave in the first place?
The French can be nice enough, but only when they're in France (and one might add "outside Paris"). As a guest there, I don't feel free to criticize my hosts, so they don't feel like explaining at length that I am simply objectively wrong about everything.
For some reason, Parisians never understand me when I speak, I don't know whether it's because they really can't or because they're not trying or even because they're trying to piss me off on purpose. I mean I guess my Quebec accent is pretty thick, but it still shouldn't be that hard to understand.
Also, the food is overrated. Too rich for me.

As for the accent,it's not yours that is the worst. We are still trying to this day to figure out what people from the north are trying to say. Sorry,I wanted to say 'Le Ch'nord'.

Well, about the #1, it really depends, but yeah in general french people are a bit close minded and they think they are the best and the other countries are shitty (the more you go in the east the shittiest it is).
And for your accent...eh, you were in Paris what did you expect ? I must be the only polite and nice guy in Paris...maybe because I never was a real parisian ? :D

After today's Euro defeat, I see you French are in a very bad position. My condolences.
Otherwise, quite decent, France has managed to keep a strong economy, not at a Germany level, but considerably better than the EU countries whose economies are collapsing.
Paris is overpriced as overpriced gets and the road to the Moulin Rogue is the ugliest sex shop filled road, but it was still cool to see.
