Hey everybody, I was just wondering about getting advice for a situation which has cropped up recently. Basically, the girl I am dating has recently been feeling more masculine, like very very masculine, to the point of feeling suffocation when wearing a dress, yet this seems to go back and forth, sometimes more feminine or neutral. And obviously transitioning was a huge thing that had came up when we talked about this, and I am more than fine with her going through that process, as I am bi myself. Yet another thing that came up was the idea of genderfluidity, and honestly both of us are just looking for advice on the matter and possibly the transition process. Thank you all so much, please don't be judgy

From what you said it sounds like your partner might be non binary. They are really the only one who can know that for sure, tho. It's very good that you're so open to supporting your partner, I think the best thing to do is to keep an open dialogue with them as you both try to figure this out. I don't think now would be the time to start considering a medical or legal transition. That is very costly and difficult, and I'm not sure how long your partner has been dealing with this but I think it would be better to have a better understanding of yourself before they move on this path.
But also, like, don't panic about it. There's nothing wrong with them. And there's no time limit. It's hard, yeah, but it's possible. You will both be okay, whatever the outcome. Gender can seem like this big scary life changing thing but honestly I find it's just very personal. Sometimes they might feel like a guy, or sometimes like a girl, or sometimes like both or neither. It's all good. You don't have to slap a label on yourself just so other people can understand. Your partner is your partner. They are not defined by their gender. It will be fine :)
