I was told by a VERY reliable source that the gal I liked was taken by surprise of the idea of me liking her. I found out she said that she had not thought of us like that and thought we had come close as friends. Obviously its not what I really wanted to hear, but I need ways to be able get out of the "friend zone" any ideas?

Try revealing your true feelings to her in person. If she rejects you or keeps you in the firendzone then at least you know it ain't happening anytime soon and can move on.

Well Damn. If she's not interested in you there's not really much you can do....

This exactly. You're not entitled to her and you can't force, coax, coerce, or convince someone to like you. You can try telling her your feelings altogether, but in the end, the only way to get out of your "friend zone" is by getting over her.

It's not what you wanted to hear, sad times. She views you as friends so you need to respect that and stop trying if she doesn't like you like that. You will get nowhere if you keep trying to break from the imaginary friend-zone, you are not zoned, she just doesn't want to date you.
