(Briefly about me: I'm 16, nerdy[not antisocial but I'm into "smart" things and am pretty smart too], and I'm in the closet gay. I'm also a sophomore in a catholic high school but homophobia isn't really a problem.)

So last year I made one good friend in school and we didn't hang out over summer between 9th and 10th grades. Being my first year in a new school, I wasn't really surprised that I hadn't made too many close friends. This year, I've been trying to join a group of friends and all of them are similar to me. My only problem is that I am too scared to invite them anywhere and don't know what kind of plans to make. Also, I have a major crush on one of the guys, but for now I'm considering that a non-problem. Any advice on how to make plans with people?

I think you have to find out - what plans they make and find similar or just randomly invite or suggest to one or two something but be ready if they already have plans its ok to ask if you can join them I guess.

Talk to them, see if they like anything that you do. The best way to get anywhere with friendships is to talk. Get to know them and then people will like you. Ask about homework and if you are friendly and joke over it a bit, you will go somewhere.

Best of luck

Find out what they like and ask them. The best way to overcome your fears is to face them.

You should probably try and find some common ground and get to know them there. When they get more comfortable you can invite them to stuff but you better get to know them first
