I don't really know where I should place that post but here we go. Well, I'm kinda depressed, not laugh a lot lately and I've got problems with my family and so on and there is a Youtuber who makes me laugh a lot and he takes away my problems for a bit. I wanted to send him an e-mail to thank him cause believe me he has saved me. But... there are 2 issues. First, I'm 17 yo and second, I'm afraid that he'll tell me something bad or something. Oh and I really don't know what to say. (TRIGGER WARNING: tell him that i've cut myself once) and that I have not got friends and he saved me is kinda... weird right? Any help? What to do? :(:(

Imagine being the recipient of said message. There's nothing he can reasonably be expected to do to help you as a stranger. You telling him about your self harm places him in a very uncomfortable position of wanting to help but not being able to.

My suggestion would be to tell him you admire his work, that it has cheered you up threw difficult personal problems and what you like about him. Don't expect a reply as they usually get hundreds of emails and even the ones they read, they don't have time to respond to.

Now in terms of depression and self-harm, you need to make the effort to get yourself help. Have you spoken your school nurse/counsellor/trusted teacher?

There are loads of self-help websites too and the forum here, whilst taken with a pinch of salt, could be very helpful.

I agree with Clara. I'm sure he'll be grateful to hear you admire his work, but telling him about your depression (my sympathy BTW) is going a bit too far IMHO.
