When do you get your cap and gown for graduation

My graduation is next Wednesday and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to already have gotten it cuz I've heard some people talking like they already have theirs, or if they just give it to us like 2 days before or something or who gives it to us or what. Can anyone who has graduated in the United States explain how all that happened in your school, how long before graduation did you get them?
