Semen under microscope

I want to check out mine under a microscope. My mom is a patholgist and we have some pretty good ones here at home. Has anyone ever done this? I'm interested to see if there is any sperm present because I'm confused about whether or not I have any yet. I've only had wet orgasms for a few months now and what I make is always clear. Does that mean I don't have any sperm yet? Has anyone ever checked out what they cum with a microscope?

Never checked bro. Well, if you really want to you can check but is your mother okay with this? I mean if she doesn't know and finds the "remains" on the microscope you could be in trouble :P
Oh and I think (think!!) u cant see sperm in a normal microscope. you may only see very tiny objects in there. I mean you can't get an enlarged image. Not worth it I think since you can always use the internet. :/

You can always try, you can try to see under it. But you can have a pretty good indication of whether or not you have any sperm present in your semen. You masturbate, ejaculate, and look at the colour of your semen. If it is of a clear composition, then you have a low sperm concentration, but if it is a cloudy white, or even just milky white, then you have a normal/high sperm concentration. :)
In future, you will have more cloudy semen, which means you'll be producing more sperm. How old are you?

I'm 13 (march 1) and mine is clear, no cloudiness to it at all and I don't make much of it.

The problem with this is that it just isn't true. If anyone reading has any doubts about what I am saying, if you're developed enough to produce white or cloudy semen try ejaculating into a clear vessel and keep it warm, for example in your pocket, and give it some time to liquify (10 to 20 minutes). At this point it white colour will have gone but the sperm are still there and probably even still alive. You could also ask someone who has had a vasectomy what colour his semen is. If determining sperm count was as simple as checking the colour why would they bother with a lab?

Back to the original question no I have not done it myself. I know it is possible with a decent optical microscope and they did do this here in the UK in a TV programme called Jamie's Dream school. They had Prof. Lord Winston one of the UK'S leading fertility experts in and had one of the boys in the class provide the sample.

To the OP are you proposing to do this with your mum's blessing. If so I wonder if she knows how you would have to prepare the sample. If not you'd have to research it yourself. There is always a danger you don't see anything from lack of expertise and anyway at your stage of development it is much too soon to panic if you don't see any. Also don't be alarmed is if you see many that are dead or not the right shape as this is quite normal. It may be worth looking up that Dream School episode on YouTube first so you know what to expect.

What are you waiting for, then? It sounds like an interesting thing to do. If you don't see anything or maybe even if you do you could repeat it, maybe every three months or so, and see how things develop. You could even keep a record. There is a long history of self experimentation in science and unlike some experiments this is risk free.

We'll, unless you count your mum finding out, and if you choose your time and clean up properly she shouldn't.. You obviously know her better than I but I suspect, as a scientist, she would understand your curiosity. An insatiable curiosity is at the heart of science.

Well, I've always messed around with the microscopes looking at all sorts of things, so I don't think they'd pay me much attention while I was at it. I like looking at all sorts of things, and she has a couple really good ones with high power. Lol ... maybe I should take it to her work where they have an electron microscope. That would draw some attention!

I don't know if it is possible or not. I know some surprising things can be determined by blood tests like, for example, if someone has recently had a heart attack this can be picked up by a blood test because the distressed heart muscle releases something into the blood which the lab can then find. It is also possible to tell how active some organs of the body are because, as a side effect of their normal activity, they also release chemicals into the blood. So, in the case of sperm production you'd be looking for any waste products/by products from the process of making sperm that made their way into the blood which would then act as a reasonable proxy.

In practice, though, you wouldn't use a blood test for this. When running a test for something you generally use the least invasive test that gives adequate accuracy*. Invasive or non-invasive is about the level of risk or distress caused to the patient by running the test. So, for example, a urine test is non-invasive - there is no risk and pissing into a sample container can hardly be claimed to be distressing. A blood test is minimally invastive - it is uncomfortable and there is a small risk of localised infection but most people tolerate them well. A biopsy - taking a tissue sample, possibly with the aid of a needle, with an endoscope or through laproscopy, is much more invasive.

So, after that, what do you think is more invasive: cumming into a container or having a needle stuck into you?

Actually there is another way. Because the urethra is shared between urinating and cumming some sperm can leak across so they become visible in urine.

Finally you can just assume your development is typical and refer to the study by JANCZEWSKI and BABLOK (https://www.scribd.com/doc/219659827/Semen-Characteristics-in-Pubertal-Boys) which, to summarise, says sperm count starts at zero or close to it upon starting to ejaculate and both quantity and quality increase over about two years to full adult fertility.

* On the question of accuracy sometimes there is a non-invasive or minimally invasive test which is highly sensitive, meaning it pick up just about everyone with a particular condition, but is not very selective, i.e. it also picks up a fair few people without the condition. Rather than avoid this test as been too inacurate it is common to run this test first and, if it returns postive, run a more invasive second test which is more selective to weed out the false positives. In a situation like this the first test is called screening test so you if you hear of screening programs this is what it is about. I guess we are wandering off-topic a bit but I'd bet birdbrain01 said it's crazy because basic info for guys going through puberty pretty much says to expect public hair growth as the first visible sign. Presumably those who write this stuff must have some data from somewhere unless someone simply wrote about his own experience and it has been copied as gospel ever since!

It makes me wonder how long ago current into was oroginally written and whether it has been revised since. I am guess tanner & his colleage whose name I can't remember measured public hair growth in developing their scale but the study I mentioned earlier in this thread was done in 1985 and I think that would have revealed the age at which guys typically start to ejaculate.

I hope you're not too sensitive then - you seem pretty confident. Someone who saw you naked wouldn't have any idea whether you can ejaculate or whether there are any sperm in it but they can see how much hair you do or don't have.

I did the experiment tonight. What I did was not jack off yesterday or today until tonight. I must say I made more of it tonight than I ever have before, but that's probably this is the longest I've gone without jerking since I've been able to cum.
So I did a wet mount slide prep and used my mom's celestron digital microscope and used 800 magnification. I saw sperm, and some of them were moving but many were dead. Mom saw me messing around with the microscope and wanted to see what I was looking at ... So I showed her, and told her I wanted to see if I had sperm. That led to a long discussion, but I actually learned a lot from her. I'm so darn lucky my parents are cool.

My dad did that for me when I was 13. It takes a special kind of slide, like for measuring blood cell count and it takes a stain, but I don't know which one. You put the semen under the glass on the slide and touch the stain to one side of the glass. They were there, more than I could count, wiggling their little asses off.

There's a time when your gonads start producing sperm and I think that's concurrent with your nipples getting puffy and sore for a while. That's about 6 months after you get pubes, I think.

She didn't show much reaction when I told her what I was up to, and I figured I needed to tell her straight up or I'd get lectured. She was cool.

What she told me that I found interesting was that once a boy can ejaculate (she used technical terms) that sperm are present. She told me that the white semen old boys and men have (I told her mine is clear) is because they are more mature and have more of the stuff that makes up semen - and the presence of more sperm. I also learned that the reason sperm looks thick and clotty at first is because it coagulates so that it will stay in the girl to keep the sperm there, then thins out so the sperm can swim to the egg. She said that once a boy can ejaculate, he can definitely get a girl pregnant if he sperms in her, and also pulling out of a girl's vagina before you cum doesn't necessarily work because there are sperm in the pre-ejaculate fluid (the stuff you leak out). She also talked about the different components in the semen, and basically it's all about nutrition for the sperm (amino acids, and sugars) and chemicals that cause the coagulation upon ejaculation and the thinning to help with transport. She also said there are components in it that helps keep the sperm safer in the vaginal because the vagina is sometimes hostile to the sperm.
