I think you would be away from home a lot - but lots of opportunities and different skills
Deck or engineering.

Well theres a lot to consider such as the fact you will be away a lot, and the dangers that come with the job, but if it's what you want then I wish you the best of luck :D

I actually wanted to go to a merchant marine school at one point :D I just liked the ideas of ships and sailing!! But I personally decided that wasn't for me, but if it's something you think you'd enjoy, research into it!! You may confirm your thoughts that it is a road you wanna go down as a career :)

being a merchant mariner is an awesome job, i have a neighbor who has done it and he gets to travel all over the world and meet exciting people and stuff. he usually goes out for like 30-60 days at a time, but then he gets to take 30days off when hes home and makes really good money doing it. i think it would be a fun job

Deck, though i would prefer to be an officer and work on the bridge. so i will most likely do a Cadet programme. so in other words Maritime academy.

i would rather work shipping. cruise ships imo aren't that intresting, i mean they have amazing stories, but shipping ships go to more places.
