I'm a grower: around 3" flaccid to 5.5" erect. Most people are growers as there would really be no point in erections if you were the same size all the time.

That's not really true. Nice as it is to see your penis get bigger the purpose of an erection is to enable you to put it into a girls vagina. Note the vagina is not the vulva - it does not sit there gaping open leaving a convenient penis-sized hole. It's a muscular tube that is normally closed but can easily stretch (after all it can accommodate a baby coming out) so your penis has to push the vagina walls apart to make it's own space. If the penis was soft it wouldn't be able to do that - it would just crumple up instead.

The change in size is really just a side-effect of how erection works, i.e. by the change of blood flow. The more different the blood flow is between the erect state and the soft state the more dramatic the difference in size is. That's why a soft penis can be relatively big when it's warm and the body allows blood to circulate freely around the extremities and then shrink when it's cold and the body diverts much of the blood to the core to reduce heat loss.

There's no real measurements for what is a shower and a grower so there is no real answer to that question, but if I had to say you were either, I'd say that you're a grower because two inches is quite a significant leap.

You are a shower. I believe the rule is that if your flaccid size doubles or more, then you're a grower. A shower would be someone who less than doubles their flaccid size.
