Hi everyone. So I am Catholic and i am also gay. My parents are very homophobic and thats the only reason that i'm still in the closet. Ever since I found out i was gay its been very hard for me. Everyone i know always makes fun of gays and says its a sin and is just very cruel to the lgbt community. I'm fine with being Catholic. I just hate how they wont accept me. Can anyone else relate to me on this? Any advice for me? Thanks.

My partner grew up in the Catholic church, alter boy and all. I grew up Southern Baptist. We are now involved in a non denominational church that is LGBT friendly. At your age you just have to suck it up and deal with it as best you can. Head up, be proud. From what I read and what my partner says the Pope is pretty open to the LGBT community. God made you, you are his creation, he loves you just the way he made you. Accept it and live your life as you were created by God! We love you and support you.

Im Catholic and a Christian but im not overly religious.
I believe in God. God is love and and He loves all of us
no matter what. He made us in his image. Y would He not
accept gays if He made them that way? Some people r just
ignorant to the fact. Im sure some people will chew this out
but just believe in Him.

Hi Nick. I think the key thing to remember here is that religion is man-made. I don't even know if Jesus himself said he was against homosexuals. Just don't feel bad because a group of people tell you something is wrong. Love is love. We don't choose who we love, but if we aren't able to love and care for someone whom we love in our hearts then what is the purpose of life? I personally feel living a life that involves making the lives of others better is a more important part of being Christian than sexuality. Please don't feel bad.

The question is not the relation between religion and homosexuality, or even the acceptance of himself.
I believe the OP'd rather want to hear of personal experiences with family and the fact of being homosexual. Something that I cannot do.
Then, first your feeling is just about speculating on your family's reaction, I don't know more than what you say but your family could surprise you, you know.
Secondly I'm rejoining a part of Billy's says, at your age there're not a lot of things you can do except wait, perhaps once you'll get older some solutions that you didn't thought about this far will appear.
