View Full Version : Circumcision; what's it like?

So I suffer from a condition called phimosis where the foreskin goes all tight, and it isn't able to be pulled back over the head of the penis.
I went to see a Dr a bit ago who said that I will need to be circumcised, but there was no rush to do so and I just had to contact the Dr when I was ready. That was a year ago now, and since then, I've been a little 'concerned' over whether or not to do it.
I know it can affect me in the future, but it doesn't affect me at the moment. I am able to masturbate without difficulty, it just doesn't "shoot" to put it in the basic-est way possible!
I've now got to that time though where I've got a girlfriend and the talks of sex are arising (p.s. she isn't aware of my condition), and I know that it will be very uncomfortable for me to have sex whilst being uncircumcised and with phimosis.
So if any of you guys could tell me what it's like to be circumcised, that would be really great. So y'know, does it feel different, is it painful, is it just as easy to get an erection etc...
Cheers.

Well I'm uncut though I would certainly prefer to be cut. With you having that condition, I recommend that you do get cut, especially now that you've got a girlfriend and are talking about sex.

It's probably better to be circumcised since it's much healthier. I'm cut, it's nothing big.

I would say definitely DONT circumcise. My buddy had phimosis and he got circumcised and he said he would have rather not done it. I had phimosis, and i used Vaseline under the opening in my foreskin and stretched it every day for about 2 weeks. One morning I woke up and my foreskin retracted. I am so happy i didn't get circumcised. My buddy said sex is not the same, and he wishes he didn't do it.
Trust me, Dont make the same mistake my buddy did.
Good luck, Daniel:metal:

I certainly think, based on the fact I have phimosis, I should really go ahead with the circumcision. I've tried the whole 'pulling back the foreskin everyday' thing, but it really hasn't done much as it is rather tight.
Thanks though guys for the help!

I can't say that it feels different since I can't compare it but it gets hard just as an uncut penis would, and I have to believe that sex is just as pleasurable. I mean I've had plenty of sex, with guys and girls, and I've never been disappointed. And there's never been any pain because I'm circumcised.
And I'd be interested to hear from someone who has had sex both uncut and cut and understand why sex is more pleasurable if uncut. I'd just like to understand it.

It's much cleaner and healthier to be cut. You honestly don't even notice it. That being said, I think there are sensation benefits for uncircumcised people. Overall, it's more important to be healthy, clean and avoid infection.

If a guy with a foreskin washes it everyday when he showers, there is no problem with hygeine at all, no different, just gotta pull back the skin rinse it out and let it go, shouldnt take 30 seconds. Foreskins meant to be there its why we were born with it. It keeps the head protected and thr foreskin is supposed to act like a stopper during sex, when a cut penis has sex the head or ridge of the heads gathers moisture behind it and draws it out as he thrist in and out and can cause dryness. With a foreskin as he thrust in the head should pushes out the foreskin and as he pulls back out the head retracts back into the foreskin keeping the moisture inside. Some guys like being cut, some dont.

I was cut a few years ago. It wasn't really painful. Some things are different now. The feeling is the same, although it takes me a bit longer to orgasm and I had to change the way of masturbating. I like it better than before, mainly for aesthetic reasons.
The aesthetic aspect is in the eye of the beholder. There are other ways to cure phimosis. The easiest way though is having it cut.
As you wrote, you shouldn't rush. It's a thing you can't get undone. If you decided to have it done, don't worry. Both is great!

You could also ask the doctor for a steroid cream used on the penis for phimosis. Could give it one last tryfor a month or so before deciding for sure to cut off your foreskin, just a thought

I'm happy being circumcised.
However, this is not a comparison between a "healthy" uncircumcised with a circumcised. It`s between a uncircumcised with phimosis so it's a no brain situation. You have to do it, sooner better.

I will be honest with you that getting circumcised is not pleasant, but it is not the end of the world. There were a couple of guys on here who were circumcised because of phimosis, and they ultimately ended up all right.
Chances are if the prescription the doctor gave you to loosen up your foreskin has not worked and your foreskin is still really tight, then your best option is to get cut. Doctors really do not like to do this kind of surgery unless it is absolutely necessary, and chances are removing the foreskin is your best option. I would get cut sooner rather than later especially if you are planning on having sex with your girlfriend. Phimosis makes sex very uncomfortable, and you will have issues if your foreskin is as tight as you describe it. Personally, I would get cut now so that you can heal up so that if you want to have sex with your girlfriend you will have the ability to do so.
If your girlfriend wants you to have sex with her, then be upfront and honest with her that you have this issue and that you need to get it resolved before you both can do anything. Unless she is completely insane and refuses to understand this problem which is beyond your control, then she will be understanding and will be willing to wait.
If you decide to get cut, then you will be fine, and you most likely need a couple of weeks of recovery, like any surgery, to get back to normal. Chances are that once you have your foreskin removed you will feel a lot better than you do now with a really tight foreskin restricting things down there.

The supposed benefits of cleanliness and the lessened risk of infections is highly debated in the medical industry so don't necessarily believe some of the claims above.
I got cut last year and I made a full thread about the procedure and my experience below. For me, the surgery was quick and the recovery was super easy and I was surprised that it was virtually painless - however this can obviously differ: http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2023176

It is definitely not healthier to be cut.
My brother had to have it done age 14 for phimosis. Aftermath of a bacterial infection.
For now he is able to compare he would have rather had kept his foreskin.
So think about it twice before you decide. Try those steroid creams! Although it did not help to cure my brother's phimosis.

It honestly isn't. The foreskin has a job. It protects the head and helps when jo or having sex. The main reason people are cut Is religion. Nothing to do with being healthier.

It isn't healthier, just easier to keep clean. If you wash it regularly, it's the same.

Are you asking guys who got circumcised later in their life or just anyone who is circumcised? I was circumcised at birth. I like my penis just fine the way it is. It works great too! I'm sure you have to get used to it, but at least you won't have to deal with that pain from your situation.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I think, based on things I've read on here and my own personal thoughts, I will make an appointment with the Dr to first, have a chat, and then talk about possibly having a circumcision.
You've all been a great help, cheers! :)

Exactly. Most Europeans have foreskin, yet they don't have these hygiene issues which many Americans seem to be scared of. Likewise, girls have various folds and things "down there" where dirt and sweat can get trapped, but no one is suggesting surgery on females.
Simply washing...WITHOUT SOAP... can do wonders.
As far as the original poster, get a second professional opinion. Why would you amputate it, just because it's tight? Are you having issues with erections or urination?
Try steroid creams...not Vaseline.

I think you need to know if your problem will increse but if the foreskin do the work its ok if not there are some exercises that are helpful im a uncut boy and when I whas younger maybe 8 I released that I had this problema at the point that for have the phimiosis I had a infection that made pee painful so I had to visit the doctor with my mom and the doctor said that he couldnt do cut my foreskin cuz im young so the thing he did was put me inmóvil and try to pull down the foreskin manually It has a name I dont remember the name, was a painful for my age the intervention tbh but after that I had total control of my penis and foreskin having everyday clean It in shower but I need to told you that im gonna be 100% thankful to this doctor because he refuse to cut me he and he did other intervention! For real, Now I love my foreskin, love all my penis how It looks I cant imagine what I could do with out my foreskin. The thing that I recomend to you is talk with your doctor about other alternativs for Cut your foreskin always are a option b

Specifically on circumcision, though I can't comment from personal experience, given the large proportion of Americans who are circumcised including many on here, few of which seem to complain about any problems or lack of pleasure in either masturbation or sex, clearly needing to be circumcised is not the end of the world.
On the other hand, though I would normally advocate following your doctor's advice, on this issue in particular I suspect American doctors may be prone to reach for the knife (figuratively) rather more readily than those operating in countries where circumcision isn't considered to be routine.
I dug up the advice from the UK NHS on Phimosis (http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/phimosis/Pages/Introduction.aspx). The UK is where I live and routine circumcision is not practised here. This advice says two things:
1. There is no need to treat phimosis if it does not cause any other problems such as repeated infection or inflammation.
2. If treatment is given steroid creams should be tired first and circumcision only used it that fails.
To me the first of these two is interesting as it suggests it would be possible to have sex without treating the phimosis. Perhaps the instruction to retract your foreskin before putting on a condom suggests that not being able to retract it would be a problem but I suspect, as long as it is stable in the foreward position, it should not be a problem.
I'd be temped to run a test. Wear a condom and thrust into something and see how it works out.
