To be honest, it's like asking is it normal to be a guy taking a dick up the ass. (Sorry if that's too descriptive, mods.) With regards to your own body, it's your choice to decide what you believe is normal and sexually fun.

In terms of what you're describing, which by definition is called "sounding", it is originally meant as a health practice in certain doctor visits to help clear up blockage in the urethra. As strange or painful it may sound, the doctors are trained to do that for purely medical purpose in a safe and sterile situation.

Recently, it's become a known sexual act. However, it's one of the more dangerous ones should you be a novice at it and not have a full grasp at what to do. Unlike masturbating where it requires no prior knowledge to do for the first time - as in needing to learn the "absolute correct way" to do it - sounding is best done by someone teaching you.

Granted that I've never done it myself nor do I know how to or want to do it; I would suggest that you carefully read as many things as you can regarding sounding if you are intent on trying it out. Unlike it is with masturbating, the risk for injury, permanent or temporary, is high. Don't just shove things in there without a care or even cleaning said instrument; the last thing you want is to make sexual acts become uncomfortable and painful because of some uneducated experimentation.

Don't, simply because of possible infection. I had a friend that would do that with an iPad stylus (his was just naturally....bigger....I guess?) Anyway, he's been fine but if you put something in there that's not clean, you could have an awkward issue to talk to your parents and doctor about.

I have never put anything up there. Obviously you can if you like but bear in mind that the urethreal lining is soft, not like keretinised external skin, so you must be careful not to scratch inside there and thereby introduce an infection.
