I it alright to wish friends a happy valentines day?

My parents told me not to wish my friends who are girls (and who I want to keep friendships with) a happy valentines day as its only for lovers or people in relationships.

Is my parents right or is it alright to wish my friends a happy valentines day over Facebook by just saying "Happy Valentines Day [name] :)"?

No, I don't see how it could be wrong. I wish all of my girl friends and som eof my boy friends a happy V-Day... That doesnt mean I want to get into bed with them XD Sometimes people just really overthink things...
If you feel like wishing someone a happy Valentine's, I say go for it.

I think wishing them Happy Valentine's Day is perfectly ok! I'm going to buy all my friends, including the guys, a bouquet of suckers. And wish them a happy valentines day.

What is wrong with wishing someone Happy Valentine's Day...it is just common courtesy. I am unsure what your parents are anxious about

lovers and ppl in relationships give each other flowers, candy and cards

I think your parents are wrong. So on President's day you wish only presidents a happy day? Wish any one a Happy Valentine Day you want too.

i think its alright, some of my friends wished me a happy valentines day and i wished them back :)

I'd say it's alright. My straight guy friend wished me a happy valentines and went as far to ask me to be his, not in a relationship way, but because we just have so much in common. :D
