I came to the US for college last semester and met an American guy in one of my classes. We quickly became friends. He has a car so we hang out a lot. At the end of last semester he said his roommate was moving out and asked me if I want to be his roommate, and I said why not. So we have been living together in the past two weeks.. I started to notice he peeks at my crotch area a lot.. I wear skinny jeans all the time, but it's not like I have a big bulge or anything like that (except when I'm horny, I guess..)

Is it typical for an American guy to peek at another guy's jeans crotch? If not, why would he want to do that? He is really nice to me so I don't want to embarrass him by asking him..

Actually I disagree. Guys look at other crotches out of curiosity.But you might as well ask him. Just make sure It's just you and him. It's ind of a personal question.

I don't think it's normal.. But I would ask him in a nice and careful way why he is looking at your crotch.
Maybe he is just curious? Ofcourse it is possible he is into you, and he's gay.. But even if that's the case, talk to him about it and say you don't really feel comfortable with it.. if you are then.

Thx! This seems like a good way to find out what's going on without making him embarrassed. If he likes me, will it make him want to look at my crotch? I know this may be a stupid question but I haven't encountered this kind of situation before and so I don't know what it means for a guy to check out another guy's crotch...

Yesterday when I went home I saw a gift on my table. I know it must be from him. It was a pretty cool belt buckle. When he came home I asked him why he gave me a gift. He said he wants me to be happy. I guess it doesn't mean anything, does it? I have never given him any gift though.

This morning I put on the buckle before I went out... and then I saw him staring at my crotch again. I remember what you said and looked him in the eyes. He saw I caught him and looked embarrassed.. and then he said the buckle caught his attention and it made me look really cool and I should wear it every day... I think it is normal. He is probably just curious. Or maybe you are misinterpreting it, some people just look down a lot (idk...)
